I'm going to go out on a limb and be controversial but I never really understood the hype over the Ferrari Daytona, the pop up light version is a bit better and the convertible looks ok with the roof down, but to me it looks like the bd child of a Rover SD1 and a Capri...

Conversely I have never understood the fascination for the Daytona Spyder (but I like the coupé). To me it just looks like a exercise in making a dramatic and flowing design looking flat and boring. But then again I rarely like conventional cabriolets.

Beat me with a stick of celery if you must, but if I had the cash and my kids were a bit older I'd be all over one of these....

However, I can not understand why everyone get's a sweat on for these. Sure, they're a great design but far from God's greatest creation on 4 wheels.

Did you get those captions the wrong way round? wink

I'll admit to not always liking the E-Type but that one looks cloud9

I love the styling of the Lancia Montecarlo, but a lot of people think it was styled using a cereal box.

Even the best styling can be ruined by details...offset front number plates for example, these are the ruin of some fine cars like marmite on the best toasted bread.

I do, I kind of agree with both statements; I have soft spot for the Panamera and I just don't get the universal love for the E-Type; a friend of mine once remarked that it looks a bit like a banana.

Age is now taking its toll on my taste and I like my cars to be sober looking and dislike 'Halford parts bin' cars.

So why do I like this (and in this colour):

But for a really ugly car, I don't think you can do much worse than:

The front looks like the 'designer' was let loose with a broken etch a sketch. smile

I seem to like marmite cars, have just purchased an SRT-6. The Crossfire styling seems to produce very different opinions.
The pictures also shows how cars can change from their prototype, and considering it was Chrysler's replacement for the Prowler it is very different.

Prototype:

That looks bloody lovely. What are they lik to own? I know nothing about them.
Only just got it so can't give a really honest answer other than all the Chrysler Crossfires are the Mercedes SLK chassis and running gear. The SRT was given bigger brakes, stiffer suspension and more importantly an AMG supercharger taking the 3.2 V6 to a claimed 330hp and a 0-60 of 4.8 seconds. They were hand built in the AMG factory in Germany, but given the Chrysler designed body. They seem to get a good write up, I also loved the looks.

I think there is also a marmite element to the colours, I like all the ST's in the lime green, bright orange.

I completely agree, I think the Panamera looks great! I just don't get the e-type love either, maybe you need to be of a certain vintage to appreciate it...

You're just trolling now. I don't believe anybody likes those things. Why? What's the point of it..
yes a dreadful clutter of 'design features' that fails miserably.

Agree on this one, it has to be a convertible or no dice. The high roof line of the hard top just ruins the body completely. Especially evident in rear 3/4 shots.

I like it. 'Halford parts bin' is one of the most over used phrases here. There is nothing wrong with the performance version of a normal car having some styling tweaks. It's hardly a fibreglass body kit held together by filler.

I don't mind the Juke. I mean, I'm not rushing out to buy one, but at least it doesn't commit the worst offence of most modern cars- at least it isn't boring to look at. It's much more interesting than say, the paint by numbers BMW SUV/Coupe nonsense above.

Never liked these, I can't really back it up with any kind of rational either. Much prefer the classic Beetle, much more dramatic surfacing which is quite unusual for a budget small car, both when it was new and now.

Nissan Cube, the first one, before they went over board chamfering the edges and rounding the corners. Such a cheeky and inoffensive looking machine.

No, you don't, but a person liking the design of the Panamera probably subscribes to very different aesthetics than a person liking a e-type. Age do not have that much do with it.

I think it's more of a neural wiring issue hehe
