The front tyres on my BMW 116 have now done 58,000 miles and show no signs of needing replacing. I used to think 35,000 was good on a 3 series. What's the biggest mileage anyone has got from tyres? The tyres are Michelin Energy Saver.

I had 65k out of a set of tyres on a 1200 Nova, my friends reckoned it was because only 3 wheels were in contact with the road at any one time!! I sold it at 135K miles still on its second set of legal tread tyres ( that's 70K plus on that set)

Not had any that went that many miles. My previous company car was a Mini Countryman Cooper SD, fronts went 26k, then front and rear at 52k.

Can't see the fronts on the ST lasting much over 20k.

My own personal cars have been around 35k I think.

I had Michelin on the back of a pug 406 that did similar.

A blow out saw one gone, so I therefore decided the other one was probably good to change.

That's some going. I thought I did well getting almost 40k out of a set of Continental Eco Contact 3s on a Škoda Superb 1.9 PD.

Wow, that's some going.

The fronts on my old company car octavia vRS use to last 8k!

My new Volvo XC60 seems remarkably light on its tyres. 13k in and I've just swapped them front to back but there was only a small amount of wear difference between them and not much overall wear, probably around 2mm off the front set?

Not bad for a 2 tonne front wheel drive SUV type thing.

I swapped mine front to back at 12k and the rears were down to about 3mm, fronts still had 6mm or so. In hindsight they needed swapping much earlier!

Down to 1.6mm after 10k on a set of Toyo R1R's on the front of my GTI-6. The rears still have about 4/5mm.

and they dont make any noise at that mileage?

i think a lot of owners change tyres way before theyve actually worn to anywhere near the legal limits but theyve changed because the tyres are giving off an horrendous rumble like a worn wheel bearing. some new tyres starting to make a racket after just 1/3 into their life with plenty of tread left.

Check age on tyre wall please.

They're probably well past it and harder than the road!!

Why do you say that? 60K might be an age of driving to some. For others it's only a year or two.

My road tyres typically last around 20,000 miles. I have to remember to swap them from front to back every service (5000 mile oil changes) mind as the slight camber on the front wheels (like most RWD cars) means they wear more on the inside edge if I don't.

My drag radials typically last around 2-300 miles.
