The front tyres on my BMW 116 have now done 58,000 miles and show no signs of needing replacing. I used to think 35,000 was good on a 3 series. What's the biggest mileage anyone has got from tyres? The tyres are Michelin Energy Saver.
Check age on tyre wall please.

They're probably well past it and harder than the road!!
DoubleSix it is a 2013 car. I put it down to use largely on smooth tarmac roads like A34 and that I tend to use cruise control as much as possible. It is a company car and when I had a tyre inspection by BMW at a 56k service they said no need to change. And that's a BMW dealer who normally are trying to get you to change tyres whenever they can.

Why do you say that? 60K might be an age of driving to some. For others it's only a year or two.
Balance of probabilities.

Not many mega-mile reps in BMW 116s
It's a 116ED fuel consumption incredible and very low VIK tax band. IMHO perfect for a weekday motorway mile muncher.

Really? Isn't a BMW 116d one of the most typical high mileage rep cars?
Low Benefit in Kind and good fuel economy.
I suspect the fact that OP hasn't come back and confirmed age of tyres tells it's own story...
Happy to come back, it is a 2013 116ED car and yep, has cheap VIK and unbelievable MPG. My fourth 1 series. Still can't get over the tyres are still from new...... It is dull but thankfully have a 135i as a weekender.

Good to know.

Worth checking yourself though. I've had BMW dealers fit four year old tyres and Porsche dealers fit them back to front!! hehe

I've managed to squeeze 95,000 miles out of the rear tyres on my Skoda Superb, they've still got 3mm remaining. Pretty astonished really.

I'll be replacing the front tyres on my GTI-6 next week. Got 22k out of them. The rears were replaced at the same time but still have plenty of meat on them.

The degree of variability in tyre wear is amazing. It seems impossible to draw any solid conclusions as there are so many variables! In terms of my own arbitrary data points, Michelin seem last pretty long however.

The BFG ATs on my Land Cruiser 80 series have over 100k miles on them with a reasonable amount of tread left.

Permanent 4x4, ~180 bhp and 2.8 tonnes unladen and in Northern Scotland so never really driven on a motorway/dual carriageway. 295 75 16 though so plenty of rubber to start with I guess.

I believe you too. My father lives in rural west wales. He bought a Daihatsu sportrack new in 96, he did 75k on the first set of bf goodrich tyres and he got to 120k before the car needed its 2nd replacement parts, a set of front pads. The car did most of its mileage bimbling along the coast road to Aberystwyth at about 45 -50mph. When i asked my dad how the hell he got 120k from a set of pads he just shrugged and said he "doesn't really drive in a manor where brakes are needed." The car lasted 15 years, the only other replacement part needed was a radiator. Mechanicaly the car was amazing. Unfortunately the chassis rotted awkwardly so he sold it on to someone with a bit of spare time to strip and repair and it was still going last i heard.

i'm thinking the same. I wonder if the real key is perfect alignment? Ive just replaced my front tyres on a golf estate. I went for some fancy dunlops last time, tyre of the year etc etc on blackcircles. They did feel great but they lasted 17k miles, which doesn't seem that good for a family hack. I went for falkans this time as it was all the garage had. Meanwhile the backs still look like they have plenty of tread, they are some cheap pirelli knock off and were on the car when i bought it 35k and 4 years ago. I will change them next summer i think.

My tyres tend to perish before they wear out. Got an MOT advisory on one car for it last time round...

I did almost 50k on one set of rear brake pads recently...

Yeah, it gets driven reasonably quickly, I certainly overtake far more traffic than overtakes me. I also find that you rarely need to brake - lack of aerodynamics and the engine braking from the big straight 6 diesel mean it slows pretty quickly when you lift off.

Total reliability, no depreciation and everlasting consumables mean it's actually been the cheapest vehicle I've ever run despite the 25 mpg. Certainly much cheaper than the OH's 1.2 polo!

I've just bought a 4 year old Hilux. The tyres are like new - I thought they'd been changed, but they are the originals. A very gentle driver!

Fronts: just replaced at 27k due to shoulder wear. Known issue on these cars.

Rears are down to 2.5mm and will be replaced next month.

I don't do 'dab of oppo' stuff (except very very occasionally in the wet) or do track days, but I do push on when the opportunity presents itself, so I don't think that's a bad life.

Blimey some of you lot must drive like a nun

All the tyres on my Ford connect are pretty worn at 12k each

Oddly the rears are wearing as quick as the front

Dunlop Sport Maxx RT2 (were as cheap as Avon/Efficegrips) - projected 20K miles on a 1.7ton MPV based on current wear rates (rotated a few weeks ago).
Wearing faster than the Avon ZX7 had before (which according the paperwork I got with the car did about 30k miles).

Not sure how you lot are getting the high mileage, half our miles are town driving and I don't drive spiritedly often (usually got kids in the car).
