But... I'd die. Quite literally, I'd die. Smiling smile
...I reckon it's less deathy than a fibreglass bathtub with a V8 wink

You can tell Dewerstone that I am impressed by how fast their cookies work, no sooner had I snuck a look on the link you put on this thread, then moments later gone to the next site I wanted to look at and there was their advert. Sadly the version of the wooden floating sunglasses the ad was pushing are sold out. You can send me a pair of the bamboo cheapies for free for the info if you want.

& yeah, I looked at the watches too. I note that they require crowd funding.

Hi folks. It's been a while, so time for another update, me thinks...

There's an old Chinese curse which goes something along the lines of 'may you live in interesting times'. Well, as far as Pub2Pub has been concerned, it's certainly been an interesting few months. And not in a good way...

It'd all been going so well. We'd reached the stage where our sponsorship proposals have been receiving some real interest from manufacturers; in fact earlier this summer we got very close to getting a US-based kit car manufacturer onboard. With just over a year to go before our planned departure, momentum was ours, and everything seemed to be falling into place rather nicely. Except the Renault 4, of course. That was still a nightmare.

But then Pub2Pub was overtaken by the real world. And the real world sucks.

There's a fairly close-knit group of people who go on these big adventures with me. And in August, one of them, a close friend who'd been having a few health issues, received a pretty rubbish diagnosis. Well, when I say 'pretty rubbish', it's worse than that. Bad enough that my initial reaction was that Pub2Pub should be cancelled out of respect, as it'd be pretty heartless to go gallivanting around the globe when someone who'd usually be coming along is stuck back in Britain, barely able to leave the house, as our frivolous 'on the road' updates roll in.

That was over a month ago now, and the dust from that bombshell has settled somewhat. And following a lot of long conversations and soul-searching, we've decided the trip will still be going ahead. We've got some catching up to do, as things have effectively been on hold for much of the summer, but still; as of now, we're back on it. One hundred percent.

And the situation we've found ourselves in has really put Pub2Pub into perspective. Namely, that there are so many more important things in the world than a road trip - people's health, to name a pertinent one. So, whereas we were already planning to use the trip to raise money for the mental health charity 'Mind', as the soul-searching of the summer gives way to the renewed psyche of the autumn, we've decided to seriously up our efforts on the charity side of the expedition, and make it a real focus from now on.

How we're going to do this is explained on the Facebook page below, but basically, we're encouraging people to put together their own Pub2Pub adventures. Big or small, bold or bimbling, as long as the journey starts in a pub, and finishes in a pub, anything goes (except obviously, drink driving...) All we ask is that at the last pub, you 'buy a round for Mind', by making a donation through our charity page, also linked below. So, if you fancy joining the Pub2Pub movement, having an adventure and raising some money for a good cause in the process, feel free to join the fb group, and get planning.

We're getting the ball rolling on October 8th, by setting out on 'Pub2PubUK', a drive from the Southernmost pub in the country, to the northernmost, in a predictably eclectic bunch of machines. it'd be great if some other folk can be persuaded to come up with their own roadtrip/hike/kayak/whatever between two pubs to add to the charitable effort. And if your effort happens to encompass awesome cars and memorable roads, please share your adventure with us here; we'd love to hear about it.

Pub2Pub is going to be one amazing roadtrip. That's a given.

Our goal is now to make it a life-changing concept for those in need of help.
