Actually the further back the axle, the better the trailer will tow, as long as it's not overloaded.

It depends where the load is but in any case I'm pretty sure that's not right

You're going to need some SERIOUS ballast behind the axle to stop the noseweight being excessive even with the thing empty.

yes the towcar itself needs to be capable.

That said, noseweight limits in Europe are ridiculously low.

Both cars early 20's. Tow car 3 Litre Bentley. Loaded car 1500cc GN "Spider".

A lot of people swap the tray for a flat bed, so plenty of spares .. for people to do this.
