Best smoker barges 1-5 large [Vol 10]

I was advised that the older E34 had less problems than the newer E38, when it comes to five series.
Yet on the seven series, it appears so far anyway, that the newer ones are a better bet. Does everyone agree with this?
Just toying with the idea of finding a barge to buy and keep for quite some time. £10k seems to go a long way with these.
Thanks!
I would say the newer 7's are a lot more complex so would be a lot more expensive when it comes to replacing things that break. Yet on the seven series, it appears so far anyway, that the newer ones are a better bet. Does everyone agree with this?

Yes the newer cars will have a lot more creature comforts but i reckon the simpler the car, the easier the long term proposition of owning them will be.
The issue now is, once you start looking at barges, a lot of desirable cars come into view. The E38's, the D2's, the C140's and the X308's.
I guess the smart thing to do would be to buy them all (at once or one after the other)

That Jag above is great value. I haven't had a V12 since my 5.3 XJS, many years ago. So a 6.0 would be one way to go. I already have a long term contact who could service a Jag in his sleep - Alan Collins.
Although I really should have owned a BMW by now. Getting a cool old one with many cylinders would be a good way of ticking that off the list.

Thanks. I hadn't spotted the wheels were white. Ugh.
Yeah took me a while to suss that, thought they were some sort of Matt Silver, to be honest thats fairly easy to sort, however sounds like it might have a bit of rust. There's also this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2001-BMW-7-SERIES-3-5-73...

I was poorly typing before. In short, which of these is the most reliable now?...
750 E32
v
750 E38
If I went for a five it would definitely be an E34, case closed there.
I have an E34 and an E38 and I would suggest the E32 would be more reliable than an E38.750 E32

The E38's, especially the V12's and later facelift cars, are packed with electronics that very occasionally can throw a little wobble - though nothing like the full scale electronic meltdown of later BMW's - as well as all the E38 range have the petrol tank Achilles heel.
The E32's are comparitively simple and come from that mid-1980's to mid 1990's era when BMW's were designed and built to last a good long time.
A nice E32 is still a thing to behold with an M30 engined 735i or 'iL' (or a manual gearbox B11 3.5) still making my wish list.
I nearly pulled the trigger on a very rare E32 750iL Royal-Individual Highline before buying my E38; it had an epic specification with rear fridge, video, TV, rear electric curtains (!!!!), telephones, full leather, suede headlining, even external microphones and loudspeakers so you could hear what the underlings were whispering and then shout at them, and of course a factory-fitted Flag holder.

It doesn't really matter how much you (get your man to) polish it, you won't get rid of Edna's spectacles.Hmm, perhaps they are white. Looked silver at first sight. Have this more staid low-miler instead:
Only 45k! Decent ad, £1,300 with three days left.

Or this one. A bit over budget, but looks nice.
