Does an S60 count as a barge? I suppose if we've had every single remaining asthmatic 190E and the odd 3 series it's eligible

2005 2.4 T5 manual. It looks like it just came out of the factory (my cars always seem to end up looking like they just came out of a swamp) and he seems exactly the sort of owner you want to buy a car from. 310bhp remap to add some extra interest.

Beige-tastic. Looks well and must be quite the sleeper.

what a horrible gear stick, surely that could have been better finished
That's the least of your worries if piss poor details bother you. The fit and finish, and details like exposed screwheads and so on were pretty poor even by 1970s standards. They look great from 20 yards away though. You do have to remember that throughout it's history Jaguar has tirelessly maintained a fine tradition of contempt for it's customers and never trying too hard where you can get away with cutting corners. Lyons himself was a 1st rate penny pincher.FWIW I was with a major lease company yesterday who have some first rate stats on reliability (rather than meaningless customer satisfaction surveys), and they said Jaguar have improved enormously for breakdowns and quality complaints since TATA took over.

£8 plus £3 post for 2nd hand is best l can see.
I reckon you could have a lucrative 2nd hand book lending operation here Jonathan! Let's say we each get a months rental for £3 each and we post the book on to the next PHer and the remittance to you, until we've all had a read.
Who do I send my £3 for the 1st month to, you or CdeG?
I'm feeling really bad, now. I bought them up not to corner the market but because I thought they'd make good gifts for petrol-head friends. I spent yesterday afternoon reading chapters out loud to my lady pupil, who seemed to enjoy it greatly (but then it's her job to enjoy my every word). If you PM me your address, John, I'll send one of the 45p specials over the water. That's five ear-marked. Only two spares left in my collection. It is a very good book.I reckon you could have a lucrative 2nd hand book lending operation here Jonathan! I promise to either send it it back to you or pass on to another PHer when I'm finished.
Might be a few weeks mind you!
Anyone who wants next dibs, drop me a line.

It's been pulled 'error in listing'. It was in this thread last week, and last time I looked on AT it was there for £1850. Hopefully it's sold to save me from temptation. Shame about missing headlamp washer cover. RenesisEvo said:

A marque specific forum where you don't have get a forum login to see cars for sale.
Bit of a weird one, and I'm sure I might know the answer, but does anyone know how to get into an E34 with a flat battery.
Using what the current owner is sure is the key (not a BMW key though, a repro) it just turns in either front door without operating the catch to unlock.
He is adamant he has gained entry before when the battery was flat using this key and having a bit of a jiggery-pokery with the door handle whilst turning the key.
Basically, been given an E34 (stood for the past decade..!) and now need to move it.
PS - I think the answer is he's given me the wrong key, which is the only one he has.

Seems pricey when I was thinking of putting my 74K mile 500SL up for similar money. Maybe I'm living in the past value wise.
If your 74K mile R129 500SL is in good nick inside, outside and mechanically, not buggered about with, and not a copmpletely outrageous colour, then yes, I think you are living in the past, value-wise.SpeckledJim said:

Mechanically A1, interior unmarked, everything working. Silver paint, black heated leather.Rust on wing, hardtop needs leak sealing, could do with 2 new side windows on the soft top.
I reckon about a grand tops to fix all that. I'm thinking of putting it up at 5 and a bit, any input on the price and if it sounds reasonable would be helpful.

Lol, the thought had crossed my mind. But the premise of me getting the car for nothing is that it will be returned to the road...!
Anyway, they had a specially trained chap round in less than an hour and managed to open it up without damage.
Thanks for the input chaps!
Dropbox pics taken by the previous vendor. Car looks the same now except it's got Goodyear F1s all round instead of worn old Kumhos.

edit to add: and I took out the naff stereo and put a Becker Grand Prix with ipod/bluetooth in there instead. Much more suited to the car.

I'd say around 8 with everything done.
I knew they were steadily increasing but that's more than I'd imagined. CharlesdeGaulle said:
I'd certainly give you 5 right now for a quick sale motorad!
I reckon 5.5 would take it and save me buggering about with the wing etc as I just haven't got time to get the work done at the moment.Dropbox pics taken by the previous vendor. Car looks the same now except it's got Goodyear F1s all round instead of worn old Kumhos.
