Best smoker barges 1-5 large [Vol 10]
Discussion
Whilst not as cool or prestigous as many on this thread this Volvo v70 t5 seems to have a good history and could make useful barge.

I quite like the look of the BMW i3, but they're not very cheap.
Actually it was a go of a friend's i3 that made me consider an electric car. I keep looking out for a cheap deal on them as I really like them. They sometimes come up on decent lease deals but not at the moment or that would be my next car.Stegel said:
It required a new latch mechanism - a different part number suggested "improved" design. The motor could be heard running but it would not release - research suggests a gear strips, and there is talk of a fix using a replacement cog sourced from China, but I needed it fixed ASAP so £250 for the new unit from the local dealer. It took longer to unclip all the trim than change the unit which is secured by three Torx screws, one electrical connector and a Bowden cable.
Cheers! I will have to stump up for one then - I recently discovered that MB Newcastle will sell & post any parts via eBay so that saves some faff anyway.I've just replaced the water pump, stat, glow plugs, belt tensioner & alternator pulley. New engine/trans mounts and set of shocks to go in. Virtually every consumable-ish part has decided to wear out at once

The only tiny bad thing are the door handles. Practical, from what I remember, but a bit ugly. Other than that the SEC is wonderful.
Although in extremis the car could be lifted using them, I guess Whether you believe that or not, and whether it works or not, is largely irrelevant I suppose, but like all of MB's ideas, you can bet your bottom dollar that it was designed and discussed to death before sign-off so it's a deliberate and conscious design feature. I'm growing to like them.
But he still runs a C126 as his daily, so must be pretty happy with the rest of his work on it.
It is a fantastic design, balanced between restraint and aggression.

The colour / wheel combination is great
It has the full M-sport package, forgot to mention that, not just an "M" front bumper.I agree, been looking for a green one, and the beige boring as it might be compliments the green, And I like the wheels alot, they just need the correct size tyres on them, these are 225 winters all around, I have a nagging suspicion that the BBS's are not the easiest to maintian in the weather about to come, so the tyres will be switched to the style 66's that was included in the sale, and these will be saved.

The good ones are out of that price range now but you might get lucky with a unwanted trade-in or something that the dealer just wants rid of. Or at auction. It's a lot easier to find a worthwhile E39 for £2k.
What about this one? The pictures are rubbish but the car might be ok. Looks like a not-unreasonabel MOT history and the advert's all right, recent proper-sounding work and a new MOT on the car

Thanks. I've had two E39's now so want to get something else. I'm making enquiries into a 100k 1995 4.0 E38, older engine and gearbox but it's pretty clean condition for just under £2k. What sort of budget for a sorted one then? What about this one? The pictures are rubbish but the car might be ok. If I were buying a 4.4l 740i I would be looking for the best car available for between £4K and £5K, as that seems to be where the best rot-free tidy cars with decent suspension and interiors are these days. Of course there are cheaper cars but it costs much less to buy one that someone else has spent the money on, than to spend it all yourself. I don't really follow the 4.0l cars.
