Car trends that you hope die
Discussion
People buying crap cars from undesirable brands and going on and on about how individual they are.
Yeah, that is because no one else wants to be in one you moron.
There are loads of them in this thread, won't buy German, won't buy an SUV, they are the fking Shoreditch Hipsters of Pistonheads,
No, you don't look cool on your penny farthing, or using your typewriter in a coffee shop, you just look like a bit of a prick. In the same way you don't look cool in your French or Jap diesel eco box.
I like all the different car trends, some make you cringe sure, but it is what keeps it all moving forward.

again another fan of HuD - great idea and one that more cars could benefit from having
that being said I hate the Fischerprice 'styling' of the new Merc touch-screens... who the fk thought that they were a good idea????
Seriously?
That whole interior is off-putting to me - especially all those vents.that being said I hate the Fischerprice 'styling' of the new Merc touch-screens... who the fk thought that they were a good idea????
Seriously?
Now if they were 3-point stars to match the badge on the steering wheel, rather than X's, I might change my mind.
And plastic chrome sprinkled over everything in the interior - AMG Mercs spring to mind, but all the Germans seem to be going that way. Coming soon - 70's fake woodgrain?

Stretch tyres , seems mostly vw's for this one , don't understand it , big wheels smaller tyres looks rubbish imo , but I guess I am old school .
This is originally a German thing. The law states that you cannot fit a rim on your car that is not a width specified by the manufacturer. There is no law about the tyre width. Thus, if you must have superwide tyres they need to be stretched. The German police take exception to this regarding it as dangerous and fine people accordingly. The trend is thus almost dead here.Rim width limited to manufacturer's specifications, tyre width optional.
Don't buy the stereotype that Germany is logical.
I haven't read the responses in this thread so far but for me it would be:
Silly toys/bears hanging off the back of car bumpers - what is the point in this..?
Cars that have ridiculous rear camber which not only ruins the looks and handling but cause more wear on the suspension parts...
The current trend of buying a cheap £250 number plate and spacing it incorrectly because you couldn't afford a decent one and now you look like a tt.
Silly immature car stickers like the one with the hand with the index finger down.. why would you put something like that on your car...?! Same goes for girls with their "powered by fairydust" and the silly car eyelashes. Stickers in general ruin a cars symmetrical looks for me. I've just been to the Nurburgring and everyone was telling me I had to buy a sticker and put it on my car... No thanks!
Hanging a pair of little toy boxing gloves from your rear-view mirror. No it doesn't make you look hard.

People who buy BoxstersCayenne, buy a real Porsche
I fixed that for you - a boxster is a better car than a 911 convertible.Oh, and IMHO if it was designed by Porsche, it's a 'real' Porsche. The one that really can't be called a real Porsche is the Macan - which has an awful lot of Audi Q5 under its skin.
However I do have chav plates and the SUV has legally tinted windows and massive black wheels.
Did I mention it was bright fking orange ?
I love marmite
When the fk did they get to 90 grand?????

Black wheels on everything.
Because nothing improves the look of a car more than making it look like a 15 year old Golf from a Council estate.
I was thinking this when I saw the thread and was trying to work out exactly what to say. This is close enough, but my car of choice would be a 15 year old Siera from about 15 years ago when the OEM wheel trim had long been lost/stolen.Because nothing improves the look of a car more than making it look like a 15 year old Golf from a Council estate.
What's the point of having a nice wheel design if you paint it black?
99% of the time it just looks horrible.
Black or other coloured spokes/centres with silver rims can look OK. I'm thinking a black classic Range Rover Vogue SE for example or those coloured hubcaps 1960//70s/early 80s Mercs used to have.
Range Rovers with big alloys/low profile tyres
Range Rovers in White
Non-RWD BMWs
BMW Automatic shift levers
DRLs, especially in contrived shapes
Headlight Eyelashes
Blue LEDs in lights/washer jets
Modern Mercedes styling
headlight and tail light covers expanding along the body of the car
LED tail lights that are very dim when viewed off-centre
Heating/audio controls combined into a GUI.
Navigation devices stuck to windscreens - nav hardware is so cheap it should be integrated on all modern cars
Small turbo engines
Disingenuous model numbering
Electric handbrakes

Carbon fibre add on tat ... Be it badges, door handles, spoilers, roof wraps, gearknobs, wheel centre caps .... you get the idea.
Also the phrase `And after a remap its just as quick as `Insert car name here that, when stock is a lot faster than the car you own/are about to buy/once owned'
