Don't know about Goffey but I have it on good authority that William Woolard played an Ewok in 'Return of the Jedi'. Obviously some camera trickery took place at Top Gear in the old days, maybe still does; I saw Richard Hammond the other day, towered over me and I'm 6' 4''.

Chris a big (at least 5’7”) in the Oxfordshire drifting scene. He uses a standard Volvo 345DL but due to his skill can outdrift all the Jap motors.

For the truthful answer to this question and all others throughout history read William Woollard’s autobiography “the Reluctant Buddhist” a shocking expose on the behind the scenes debauchery that took place in the Top Gear offices during the late Pebble Mill era. The anecdote about Christo’ challenging Willo’ to a swimming race across the river Seine after a rowdy press launch with a Renault 5 turbo chained to his leg is dubious but tragically may well have affected his previously estimated height?

Hope this is useful?

I think “Bill the Buddhist” would have been a catchier title.

Back on track the word on the street is that Chris had to go as Jeremy was intimidated by his stance. And also his moustache. And his beard. And tank top collection.

Listen it might be easier to work out how high he is? Just times the number of gear changes on a Citroen BX by Sue Baker and subtract Frank Page from the equation.
Simple.

I thought this thread got locked?

Was behind a Mitsubishi PHEV today. Do you think he is taller then one of these? And how do you pronounce PHEV?

No, it does however reassure us that he's less dangerous than a llama. smile

Look, Clarkson may have larged it up at showbizz parties by offering his chums some 'top gear' but Chris would never have stooped so low which in fact makes him the bigger man.
Any use?

I believe knee high to a gnat's left knacker was the accepted measure in his heyday

I believe from his journo profile pic that he specialises in miniature alpacas.

Do his miniature alpacas eat Supergrass?

There was one famous episode when he got in an xr2 (mk2) and bashed his head on the plastic trim for the factory fit glass sunroof - that makes him
At least 6 foot 2, (or 1.75 Hammond's).

We're going about this the wrong way.

Simply imagine Michelle Newman placing an MGB hub on top of Goffey's head. Knowing it has a PCD of 4 1/2", it's easy to work out the difference in height between him and Steve Berry, so the real question is "Does anybody know how tall Steve Berry is?"

I had my chance to determine that when I spotted Steve with his family taking in the sights of London's South Bank around Tower Bridge 15 years ago. As a fellow non-Southerner I seemed to be the only person who recognized him. Nodding to him as I passed in a "Hello Steve. I recognize you, but I'm not going to make a big thing about it" sort of way, he clearly envisaged a re-enactment of the final scene of 'Invasion of the BodySnatchers'. He quickly averted my look and beetled off before I could press him against the nearest height chart. Sad to say I missed my chance.

I once saw Chris Goffey near Bicester. He was standing talking to a group of car enthusiasts. He was neither the tallest, nor the shortest of the group. He produced a Talbot Samba Diesel from his beard, claimed that he had to "crack on" with a road test for Motoring Miser monthly and drove off at low speed.

If that picture is accurate then we must be able to apply the well-known DIN standard beard/height ratio, taking the tank top factor in to account. Or the ISO if the DIN is not readily to hand.

Am I right in thinking Chris Goffey will appear taller when accelerating and therefore shorter under braking?

Could this explain why his torso appears longer than his legs on the telly?
Any use?
