I also looked at Astons briefly in my hunt for a new car. Visited AM Cambridge. Parking lot of about 20 cars, plus five in showroom. Excluding the display-only DB5, they were all 10 or less years old, all some version of silver or grey, mostly black interiors, tailors grey headlining and frankly it was pretty hard to tell the £35k car apart from the £250k car without staring hard. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when I saw the room out the back displaying the amazing array of interior and exterior colours available... that no-one chooses.

Some of us choose interesting colours!!!

Flugplatz? FLUGPLATZ?

Apart from it not being the most mellifluous foreign-language word to an Anglophone ear, they've actually called a colour "Airport"?

Sometimes, I despair...
There is a good reason even apart from the corner's aviation history ...

This engine, lotus handling.... Porsche need to be a bit worried, if the new v12 vantage combines these things with a real gearbox and the usual stunning Aston looks, it will be a convincing rival to a 911 turbo

Yes, I know. But perhaps Aston should consider naming a colour after a corner on a British circuit? Something at Silverstone, say?

What colour's your new DB11?
Maggots.

That's quite interesting. I've never considered Porsche to be a level competitor, let alone above Aston in the general pecking order. I've always thought of Porsche as being the pinnacle of the mainstream, mass produced market but that marques like Aston were in a different league.

I'd agree, it's only a 911 Turbo competitor amongst the 'look at me' brigade. The Porsche is £135k and the DB11 will be pushing £200k for a start, as well as being much bulkier and much classier. There will be a new Vantage coming along in a year or two aimed at the Porsche but at the moment, for me the only real rival to the DB11 is Bentley GT Speed.
