Hyundai Matrix; had one as a hire car from work when the pool cars were taken, I couldn't hand it back quick enough.

Mokka 1.7 CDTI auto. Just awful. Noisy, agricultural engine, flimsy build, dark and cramped, cheap interior plastics and finish, no steering feel, rubbish gearbox, poor visibility, poor seats, lack of any comfort, tiny boot, impractical rear door.

I cannot think of a single target demographic that it would satisfy.

Worst car I have ever had or driven ( getting on a bit &have had many, many cars ) was a early 60s Fiat 600 4cyl thing, swopped it for my MG Midget. It was a truly terrible car, it was not fast, economical, reliable or comfortable....It's final act was to spit a spark plug out & go up in flames. These abominations go for £10,000 in reasonable condition! it's truly a crazy world.

Corsa B (X Reg, 2000). Back in the 90s, I was envious of my friend, who owned a Corsa B. It was so much nicer than my knackered Fiesta. Fast forward 15 years, and I had the "luck" of using a Corsa B courtesy car...... what a pile of shyte. The car was not only crap, but the accelerator pedal was in front of the wheel arch!!! I couldn't dperess the pedal properly. ... what a stupid design!

I had a new Peugeot small car as a hire car last year in Spain, took it back the next day and changed it for a new VW Polo. The difference was night and day. The pug felt at least a decade behind. I was quite impressed with the little VW.

How odd, I've had the dubious pleasure of owning a few corsa b's and whilst they're not fantastic, they're generally 'ok' the Throttle pedal though?

Do you have abnormally sized feet or something? I've never noticed anything especially strange with the pedal placement.

My son in law who is 6 foot 5 with feet to match (for some unfathomable bizarre reason) loves corsa B's and he's never mentioned this and he looks like Mr Incredible getting out of his car.

Peugeot 308 GTi (early 2016 dealer demo car).
Fine if driven like it was stolen.
Hopeless - borderline dangerous - amount of throttle and turbo lag in low-rpm town driving, even in 1st gear.

My Type-R went in for some paint earlier this year (some bd keyed it last Christmas) and I was given a Fiat 500.

While not the worst car ever, if you’re a girl, it’s easy to drive and looks nice and whatever else those who are in the market for a 500 look for in a car.

But it wallowed around in corners like the suspension was made out of a Victoria sponge, the steering wheel was the size of a dustbin lid, the seats were flat and totally unsupported, I couldn’t believe how slow it was! (Never remembered any 1.2 being THAT slow) and being 6 foot 3 my knees were rubbing my earlobes.

On the plus side it used a quarter of the fuel my car usually gets through in a week and the gear stick was in the same place as my car so that was commendable.

st my pants when I got back in my car and put my foot down laugh

6'3" and you managed to drive a Fiat 500?
I'm similar height and too big to drive one.

..hmm, its between a Mitsubishi Pajero I had as a hire car about 9 years ago, a Lancia Delta 1600 GT hire car, 9 years before that or the Fiat Mirafiori I owned briefly in 1990. All truly awful cars to drive that almost felt dangerous. TBH, none of the cars mentioned that have been made in the last 5 years are truly bad. You need to go back a lot further for really bad cars.

Had one as a hire car a couple of months back. Fitted in it no probs (only 6ft1) and it was a decent enough steer and a nice enough place to be but that engine is something else.

Now, I'm not one of those who thinks anything under 200bhp is dangerous and I'm quite happy to pootle around in anything the rental place gives me but the engine in the 500 was woeful. Took forever to get up to speed, hills almost defeated it and when you went to change gear at a billion rpm, the engine would bog down to something like 3 1/2rpm. Ruined a perfectly good car.

Also the headrests were rock hard plastic.

I’ve had a few small hire cars over the past 6mths and I specifically requested a 500 as I wanted to try one.

Genuinely I loved it, it wasn’t as accomplished as the i10 I had the week before but just made me smile - granted not much power or road presence but it really reminded me of the Ford Ka I had back in 99

I’m 6’4” and had to drive one for 30 minutes across town. When I got out at the other end my body genuinely just felt like I had drove for 6 hours it was that cramped and uncomfortable.

Can’t say they are awful cars for their target buyers - girls who live in towns where the lack of power/handling doesn’t matter.

In terms of old stuff it's a tie between a Morris Minor and a Beetle both bought by a student mate in the mid 80's as they were trendy. Both felt like a throw back to the 30's.

Honourable mentions to a 2.2 Wolseley Landcrab and Mk II Cortina - both 3 speed autos, neither could pull a greased stick out of a dog's arse.

I also recall some pretty awful drives in mate's Mk 2 2.0 GL Capri - thoroughly nasty thing. It was inexplicably popular with certain parts of thee population but he hated it so much he used to leave it unlocked with the windows open in the vain hope that someone would steal it. They never did.

In terms of things that are more modern 2nd place goes to to diesel (ugh) Toyota Corolla Verso. Tinny, clattery, stinky wallowy piece of turd. Enough to put you off procreation for good. Made my mrs throw up. Literally.

As far as the winner goes it's a tie between an early 90's Nisaan Terrano and a late 90's Merc ML 270 - both lumbering diesel tractoid things with awful road manners. Horrible to drive, look at, hear and smell. Slow, clattery, wheezy, vague and wobbly.
Utterly pointless for anything other than bog snorkelling.

Rented a panda 1.2 on a Greek island recently.
The car fitted the island perfectly, if anything was a bit too “new”
Generally fine, if dull. But there was a catastrophic torque flat spot at low revs that made it very unpleasant to drive.
I don’t mean “it’s a bit sluggish with no revs”. I mean lightly loaded, 15% gradient and first gear was a wide open throttle experience, occasionally with some clutch slip and you needed to pretty much change up on the limiter or the thing would bog down and stop in second.

I assume this is specific engine mapping for emissions purposes (i seem to recall complaints about the fiat 500 a few years ago).

Fiat Seicento

It’s no surprise they held (maybe still do) the worst safety rating in modern car history! Absolutely awful in every way.

Pedals are off to the side and comically tiny.
Go too fast round the corners and the fuel sloshes around in the fuel tank and the engine stalls
Seats do not hold you at all. So you can slide off them
If I sit in the car my shoulder touches the side window!

They’re awful cars but my mum loves hers!
