Not sure what it is called, but I think it is 'M-Sport Adaptive'.

Yep - that's the intelligent system. Great, but an expensive option.

No that's fairly cheap £500 option on a 3 series, I think you mean adaptive drive which is/was an option on the F10/11 5 series and 6 series and is about £3000 it combines adaptive dampers and adaptive roll bars and that is very good.

You cannot have driven any modern saloon car for some time.

Standard suspension in a 3 Series or C Class is intolerable to anyone with even the slightest interest in or appreciation for dynamics. It's like driving a boat.
I drove a boggo 320d around the mountain roads in the Norh of Major a a few weeks ago. It handled very well. I enjoyed driving it.

See my later post. They handle worst when NOT driven hard (i.e. the kind of driving a normal saloon or estate can expect almost all of the time).

Well, around town or on the motorway, I'm not sure it matters that much.

Sure it does. Boaty suspension makes me feel slightly unwell and inspires no confidence at all.

A lot may depend on usage. I find most A roads impossible to drive hard (as that would require very illegal speeds), so I spend a fair amount of time driving nice-ish roads but not with any commitment. Any road that could comfortably be cruised at 85mph and driven hard at over 100mph puts me into 'pootle mode', but I still want the car to feel attached to the road when I am driving smoothly and slowly.

The faux carbon fibre is not mandatory. Other interior finishes are much nicer.
