Correct! Was a little nervy parking so close to a big drop into the Ouse and kept running back to check it was in P and the parking brake was definitely on. Doesn't bear thinking about, etc... eek

Great on the French Riviera but I can't see the point in this country. In London you'd just get gassed by traffic fumes and in most other towns and cities you'd probably get gobbed on by the seething masses.
And what about driving around the Cotswolds / lake district? The UK is a bit bigger than London.

Lovely car... just not with that interior, thanks.

I am puzzled.

Buy a 2.5 million La Ferrari or McLaren P1 and the Pistonheads rule is to worship the car and shout Kudos to the owner.

Spend a tenth of the sum on a Rolls Royce and have to put up with the cynical cliches and disparaging remarks.

I don't get it.

What a cynical review.

Actually, has anyone seen David Dickinson or Dale Winton of late.....

I do like that, despite the challenging Ooompa Loompah Hide interior on this example, however I am not sure I could drive it without feeling like Cyril Sneer from the Racoons cartoon, Rich Uncle Pennybags (The little Monopoly Guy) or any other fictional clichéd depiction of wealth, I am not above a little flash but that much can only work in certain settings, I would just feel like a massive tt in it most of the time.

The review said:
Credit where it is due though; from its whisper-quiet tickover to its cultivated whoosh under power, this V12 carries off the character required of a Rolls-Royce powerplant ... there's an elegance and simplicity about the driving experience that enables you to relish in the finer details and unabashed opulence ... the amount of time you find yourself in the upper reaches of the 'power reserve' dial indicate just how under-stressed the engine - and indeed driver - are most of the time ... it's measured, elegant, restrained and a lovely way to make progress ...
Yup, dripping in cynicism. confused

Having lived with it for a few days though the point has to be made you cannot just use this as a normal car and do day-to-day stuff, or expect to waft about and not have people notice you. It IS the definitive conspicuous display of wealth, for which some will love you and others will not. You get the same in a supercar of course but at least there's a pretence they have another purpose - that being out and out performance - whereas in the Roller that is its entire raison d'etre.

Perhaps it's not too late to call it a Rolls Royce Silver Tracy?

Can't believe they've called it the Dawn. It's about as Birds of a Feather as it gets.

Anyone else think the doors are on backwards?
Must be some point in that
Aside from marketing, its allegedly easier to get in and out.
Only if theyre fully open?

Maybe theres an at cost option to have the doors the right way round yes

smile Yep; car is outside the College of Ripon & St John Boat Club, York City Rowing Club diagonally opposite, Lendal Bridge in the background. On reflection, I did spend a LOT of time on the river whilst I was a student...

Well I'd have one. Probably with a slightly less "new money" interior (I'm thinking boring black leather). I can't think of a better way to schlep down to the South of France, or Spain, or Gibraltar, or - sod it - Algeria (dropping the hood once you pass Dover).

One thing though, does one have to have the bonnet in a different colour?

I really like it. Even the interior (which lifts it given the dreary grey exterior)paperbaggetmecoat

That's absolutely fabulous I love it all

Such a nice interior colour. So good to see a press office not go black on black.

Rolls Royces are sublime in every model they do. This is awesome.

Title of article just made me doubt if any Rolls Royce Dawn owner would ever 'experience reality'.
