RE: Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio pricing announced
Discussion
All the reviews I have read so far have been positive .It annoys me that people continue to judge the quality of a new car based on the performance of an old car.
My concern apart from the depreciation would be the quality of the dealerships not the car a while ago I was in the market for a one of the quicker Mitos and the sales people did not seem very enthused at either dealer I went to. Admittedly this was before the 4c was introduced so perhaps their people skills have improved.

People have a right to be recticent; we have little to go on. Whoever said it is right, they could have bought some confidence by doing a campaign on a 5 year warranty or something, that would more shocking than the performance!
I do really like it, but i appreciate why people will play it safe and go for the BMW or Mercedes. It will be interesting to see the GFV on the finance deals, and the discounts available (as you can get good ones on the German rivals).

[quote=red_slr]Is the M3 actually 430 bhp though?
All the dyno tests I have read are showing the M3 is underrated and most are really 460-470 bhp, although the same could apply to the C63 and Alfa? They are lighter though and the power to weight will probably be similar...
I doubt there will be any really noticeable difference in performance between all three.

It does look good, if I could afford one I'd give it a chance any day. I'm a big BMW fan boy and will happily admit it. But I'm also a bit niche, so this ticks all the boxes. Also on depreciation, if barely anyone gives it a chance, they'll be as rare as rocking horse st soon and command good risiduals anyhow.

Yes a slight exaggeration on the price drop, but we all know they will drop like a lead weight.
I will take the AMG all day long over it. Even if the Alfa was £10k cheaper.
Good luck to any would be buyers. £60k for an Alfa, very, adventurous.
Sadly I suspect its many people approaching the car with this attitude to whether it will hold its value that contributes towards why cars such as the Alfa being worse off for depreciation. Hopefully they can compete successfully with ze Germans.£20,000 2017

The price is almost irrelevant. How much per month combined with how much up front isthe key.
I suspect you are exactly right.Although the price seems about right to me, it is more powerful, will be well specced (probably better than an equiv Merc/BMW, has a special Ferrari born engine and is a bit different to the norm. Oh as well as pretty much hitting every 'want' from pistonheads, with the auto box being the only niggle point - even though the box in the Giulia does appear to be tip top.

Hard to do good lease deals on cars that depreciate badly.
To an extent, manufacturers/dealers can control initial depreciation if they offer good enough lease deals because they end up with control over the rate at which second-hand stock comes onto the market. Of course that means holding stock, which doesn't work for a high-volume car, but it can be done for something which only sells in the hundreds anyway. MarshPhantom said:

Not really it's all about manufacturer support, BMW did a 2 year lease on a F10 M5 for £600 a month, Audi recently did a deal on the S8 for a round £550 a month.Both of which drop like a stone, but I can't see Alfa wanting to do such a deal on a crucial halo car.
