I think mine mite be worth a shilling more now,but i have had it over 25 year's.
I was waiting for you to show up... Don't think the plate is worth more than a 640d though!
640d's must have rocketed in price then! That plate has to be comfortably six-figures, surely?
It is indeed..I've had two six-figure + offers over the year's but I've declined both much to my wife's disappointment...!

B8 used to be on a golf plus in Dunblane and I used to see B9 around the same area on a Discovery 3 that was a while back now.

I saw the registration plate for me on am Old purple Tigra, L4mby... used to live up next to my uncle... not seen it, but thought it would have probably cost a lot more than the car at the time... especially now if its still on it!! was about 10 years ago! Also there was a roller for a while going around with BBC 1... surely must have been someone who actually had something to do with the bbc... car value to no. plate value must be fairly similar though?!

The ones I always like are the people that have clearly given into their family life and changed cars but kept their plate (usually because the letters are their initials I presume)

e.g. S3 XYZ numberplate on an audi A4 TDI
M5 XYZ plate on a 320d touring

etc

I saw ABC123 on a 2002 Fiesta a couple of years back – sadly didn't get a picture!
They live Nr Atherstone, and seem to have the same number on a large camper van.

about 10 years ago I spent some time between Chiswick and Acton.. There used to be a VW Golf Mk 3 estate with the number plate A8. The car was definitely a shed back then!

I also see a lot of "X5 XYZ" plates that have been transferred to Range Rovers.

I've seen a couple of "V6 XYZ" plates on BMW 3 Series. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that they've been transferred from something like a 350Z rolleyes

My relatives next door neighbour used to have the plate D4 on a rusty yellow (if was difficult to tell where the rust ended and the paint began) Mini Metro, the car must have been worth at least £1500 at the time. It was his fathers and he had it on an Austin Princess before that. They eventually sold it for £24k but that was probably 15 years ago...

I had 00 127 on my first motorbike, no idea if it's still out there. And HLO 1 C on a Red Lotus Cortina, which is still out there:-

Until recently, the missus had XX SLK (her initials) on a smoky 2002 diesel Ford Focus. She sold the Focus for £600 and is holding the plate until I buy her an actual SLK.

Yeah, good luck with that!

As an aside, any time I see the Pimlico Plumbers vans, it makes me wonder how much they must be charging! I always think it's good to turn up in a decent, professional looking van, but that takes it a bit far!

My wife an I have matching plates her's actually says her name the last four digits being 1SLA or Isla so I have same first 4 characters then CCT. Its pointless but sentimental it also marks out her an my car...mine being the Zafira lol.

When I get a new bike I will buy a new plate with my Daughters initials on it with same 4 characters at the start again just bit of fun an not going to be worth alot but hey does not harm an makes the DVLA some pennies.
Oddly My initials CCT or CT tends to be hard to find as a Number then letter combo.

I inherited my Grandfathers old 1956 Scooter. The reg on that is RJF 20. Must be worth a lot more than the scooter. Sadly it came with no paperwork and I have tried to apply for a new log book but had no joy. Wouldn't be using it on the road (can't get new tyres for it as they are an odd size) nor will I ever sell it so haven't persued it. I did hear that you needed to re register old vehicles in the 70s and he never bothered. Not sure about that, though.

I am reasonably confident that you will be able to re-register the scooter on it's original number. But the number would then be non-transferrable.

The scooter looks like a lovely old thing. I would restore it, get it registered and use it for pottering to the pub.

It is too nice to leave it lurking in the garage.

CR7 is (or possibly was) near me in Ayrshire. He apparently wanted to buy it, but the guy refused, unless Ronaldo bought him CR1 as a swap.
My girlfriend's Dad has CR15 on an eleven year old Mini.

The self same footballist also wanted to buy that plate, but his rather substantial offer was politely declined.

The plate is probably worth about 40 times as much as the Mini.

I used to see these parked up near Vauxhall Bridge when I drove in London a lot. I always hoped that they belonged to Kenneth Brannagh or some other proper Shakesperian ac-tor, but apparently they belong to a property developer.
