I didn't manage to get a pic, but I spotted the plate 1F today.

On a mid-spec MK2 Focus.

Not a private plate, but back in 2001 I paid £250 for a volvo 480 that had 248k on the clock. Reg was D666 ATF. Driving in Peckham one day a chap flagged me down and offered me £500 for the car. Just to get the plate.

Sometimes wonder if these plates on a proper snotter are some sort of potential inheritance tax avoidance.

When my father passed away we were simply asked to put a value on his car according to the make, model and year.....no one ever asked what the reg number was. In such a case a car would simply be passed to the new owner outlined in the will taking the market value of the car for IHT purposes.

Theres a fairly new Merc GLA in Glasgow with the plate AK47.

Whilst the car is not exactly cheap, the plate must be worth a fair bit more.

Used to be, as per the picture, on an early R107 AMG.

Plate worth less than the car.
Google Nick Mason / Pink Floyd / Ferrari GTO.
I don’t believe your first comment stands.

I used to regularly see a silver 2003 Toyota Avensis with the number plate "H1" around Guildford, around 4/5 years back. It made me double take a few times!

Just did a quick check and it looks like it is now on an SL63 AMG which probably suits it a bit better laugh

Mentioned before on this thread. The owner was an elderly lady who lived in Hook Heath. The plate was on a Carina, then an Avensis when I used to see it.

I suspect she has died and hence the plate was sold.

I think it used to be spaced as normal but it was an older Range Rover at the time.

I took the photo in the paddock at Silverstone. Belongs to Nick Mason's offspring.
