I think one of my neighbours went berserk on a car parked in their space. It's a gated residential flat but gates have a fault so are stuck open. Turns out they were visiting relatives on the neighbouring street but couldn't find space. So rather than parking round corner on another empty road decided to drive in and randomly park in one of the car ports. Needless to say the car owner won't be that stupid or lazy again... even if I feel punishment was a bit harsh!
Sounds like the kind of nutter you'd be better not having around you.
I would much rather have an occasional nutter who despises anti social parking knobs, than the selfish tw@t who thinks everyone else's property is there for his/her benefit as a neighbour.

And, as a bonus I could spend the rest of my days knowing he would never ever touch MY car. wink

You can despise these individuals without becoming a criminal vandal yourself.

No, it's the action of an infant with poor emotional control, who shouldn't be in public unsupervised.

Block them in, move the car out the way, or have it moved.

Even leaving aside that it's unacceptable behaviour, vandalising a car for parking in the wrong place sounds like a good way to get your own stuff smashed up in retaliation, or worse if you pick on the wrong person. However tough you think you are, there's plenty of people out there who never got the memo about it.

You obviously misunderstand/misinterpret what I wrote.

I am not going to touch anyone's car, and nobody is going to have cause to touch my car. So I have no problem with this supposed one-off nutter.

Repeat - I am not going to touch anyone's car.

So are you going to touch anyone's car? You could make that more clear.

Condoning vandalizing cars does not make you much better.

The only people who should worry about people like that, are the anti-social miss-fits who clearly think the rules around manners, property and society apply to them.

^^ That doesn't apply to me, or the vast majority of road users and we don't behave like that and will never be 'revenged'.

Ergo. I really don't care about any situation of their own design.

[Repeat: I would never damage anyone else's car, and anyone who falsely accuses me of that is an obvious Cockwomble].

You might think you don't have a problem with the guy who did it, but that kind of person is the type who'd poison your dog because it's barking, or punch your wife for wearing green on a Tuesday.

Who knows what will set them off next, they're walking round looking for an excuse to go off on one half the time.

A few weeks later when I got back, I met another neighbour who saw me parking up on the road at 4AM (getting home from a job) and asked if I was able to move my car out the free bay so he could park his AA van there so he didn't need to wake up at 9AM to move it somewhere else. He was polite and said not a problem if you're not going out before 9. Wife was going to work at 8.20 so I said sure and moved the car 15ft forward onto the single yellow line.

I saw him again the next day and asked if his shifts are always crazy. He said yes and explained how he struggles to find places to park so has to wake up, move the van, then go back to sleep to be ready for his shifts. I felt sorry for him so told him to use my bay! He doesn't know it, but he's part of a petty revenge plan against the neighbour. If my Golf was a problem an AA van that hardly fits in the bay is definitely worse.
Surely your AA neighbour's work schedule and/or place of residence are incompatible?

I asked about this and I think he said he got the job 18 months or so after moving in. Either way he lived here before needing to worry about a van.

You have proof, that he would be like that?

How do I know that you are not simply saying those things because such an assumption reinforces your own point of view?

Its just as conceivable that he is the type of person, to clean the disabled neighbours windows and mow the communal lawn and be completely non-confrontational.

Non-confrontational people don't vandalise a car for being parked in the wrong place. Angry nutters do.

And angry nutters are unpredictable and do other angry nutter things.

Or could it possibly be that Mandalore is not condoning vandalism and you aren't condoning anti-social parking? scratchchin Basic comprehension appears to be sadly lacking here.

OK

let's get this over with

I am a man who parked on someone else's drive without permission..

to explain.

When taking my daughter to a hospital appointment, I found a web site that allowed people to rent out parking space during the day. Brilliant! I booked, I paid, I parked.

My car was on the drive for a few hours - as agreed under the tree in the corner (so no one was blocked fortunately)

When the follow-up appointment was required, my wife did the same.

The issue became apparent when my daughter ask why Mum has parked at a different house to me.

Yup, I got the wrong house. so I parked for a few hours in some poor sod's drive. I hope they were at work and never noticed! Given they didn't call my mobile (number on paper on the dash), I guessing so.

I was/am embarrassed and apologetic etc. No excuses, except I was pre-occupied and worried about what news the specialist was going to give to us.

I am very glad that my honest (and stupid) mistake wasn't punished by some vigilantly tw*t taking the law into their own hand and committing illegal acts.

Reading this thread makes me value living in a quiet-ish village and having a decent amount of space outside my house to park!

I wouldn't be able to deal with these kind of scenarios! It's bad enough when i pull around the corner and occasionally the ice-cream van is sitting/serving outside the house! I have to park behind it! Unbelievable!

That's the problem - tw@ts who blatantly park in someone's space don't leave contact details. I doubt they would be on receiving end of this retribution if they left a note explaining why the vehicle was left there. It causes a lot of stress.

I suspect there is a lot of truth in this - it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of the anger of the person wronged stems from the feeling of impotence (nothing you can do to move the offending car, not knowing if they are going to be there for 5 minutes or 5 hours etc) as much as from the sheer effrontery of it.
