Slept in the car - is this doable with back seats down - as in do they fold flat?
What else can you tell me about yours? How long have you had it, is it an m sport, are you still using run flats - anything else?
I slept in a bivvy bag outside the car - I have previous sleeping in cars, and you want some kind of ventilation (i.e. window deflector things and the windows down a crack). The rear seats don't fold flat - although removing the bottom seat cushion isn't too bad (you have to undo the middle seatbelt latch with a T50 torx) and I suspect they might go flat then. What else can you tell me about yours? You probably could sleep in the car at a pinch, but with lots of decent outdoor kit these days, it's comfier outside it.
I've had it getting on almost a year, it's on 191k miles now, it's an M sport with the birds b3 suspension kit which now I've changed all the bushings on the rear end (another long story!), is quite settled - but not overly harsh. No runflats for me, it came with as set of the standard 18s MV3's, but one had a crack, so have some 17s on it using a michelin PS4s on the front..vreds on the back for now after I had an interesting shredding the pilotsports on the rear in 700 miles incident - I couldn't stump up for another set without knowing I'd sorted a problem.
Anyway, lots of other niggles and problems aside, now I've sorted pretty much everything (all DIY on a driveway) - it's a great car on a long run, but with just enough character with the engine to sling it down the wider faster B roads (which is where I often end up when mountain biking). I did think I wanted an E61 550i manual - but they were twice as much money, and this has the N52 engine and I think actually suits me better size wise and for what I'm doing really. I’m getting about just over 30mpg on a run (cruise set to warp factor 8.5 typically), and below 20mpg on a thrash – averaging out at about 27.5mpg overall.
I might start a thread on it if people are interested? I’ve had enough parts of it apart to make it vaguely interesting now – and spent about the same as the purchase price on parts!

Would love to start an E70 bearding thread if there is interest? Or are they too housewife for PH?
Is that a Nokia? It is the previous generation X5, arguably the better one, and surprisingly fast cars too.
Although I had an E70 nokia, they were quite good, but had nothing on my E95, they were the beast of Nokia's back then!

The X5 E53 4.8iS still is the quickest normally aspirated X5 ever made and also is quicker than any E70 bar the 50i and the X5M. Easy mid 9s at the Ring with it It is the previous generation X5, arguably the better one, and surprisingly fast cars too.

Very saucy car, love the individual interior. Not in a position to buy but we are hoping to get one soon, September time possibly.
Old-school radar detector too, probably of no use now.Very saucy car, love the individual interior. Not in a position to buy but we are hoping to get one soon, September time possibly.
You can buy laser detectors but by the time you pick up the laser it's too late anyway, they will have your speed faster than you can blink.
The only think of any use now is a laser jammer which is a whole different ball game.

How much power were they pushing? The E70 4.8i pushed 333hp, did the 4.8iS push the same amount of power?rayyan171 said:

Yeah do that. I started the now famous [maybe not] E61 V8 bearding thread. You need to start a 330i / 335i E91 thread. I've started reading some stuff about hydraulic bushes on the LCI and its got me perplexed.

that's frightening for a SUV. There was a one off V12 Le Mans version of the X5 that had the CSI V12 or something similar and BMW. The classic X5 really did popularise the SUV, some still sell for £10k easily.
It was the actual Motorsport S70/2 (McLaren F1 and V12 LMR) engine - different unit overall to the M70/S70/M73 used in BMW's road cars - without the restrictors of the race engine - so made around 700bhp. There's a video kicking around of it doing the 'ring, worth it for the noise alone... 4941cc said:

Yes, however the price range for the cayenne GTS/Turbo was £80k+ at the time, whereas the 4.8iS was £50k at the time. There was a massive price difference, so that performance in an SUV for that money was impressive.
The 4.8iS is quicker than the 1st generation Cayenne GTS too In terms of VFM at the time it was unbeatable. Only the Cayenne Turbo was quicker at nearly 2x the cost while options were added. The new X5M can easily tip the cost scales at over £100k so the VFM aspect to it is almost non-existent. Mind you, they make a cracking 2nd hand buy compared to a Cayenne...And lastly, the 4.8iS is worth it for the sound alone. Don't think BMW have done another V8 with a better sound since...
