How about this a6 with the same engine as the b8 s4 - standard 300 but easy remap to over 400 bhp and more. Looks cheap to me?

And this is the best photo I have atm:

MG ran quite a few 'themed' ads for their cars. I've posted a few before when I've stumbled across them but here is a very good source.

The Ford Mexico engine transplant looks interesting!

One of my little pipe dreams I'll get round to when I've sold my company is to start a top quality car mag. The vision is thick paper, long form articles a la Llewellin / Bulgin / Setright, published 4 times a year. No advertising. Amazing photography. It would lose/cost more money than an S65 on linglongs but it would be worth it.
Please do it, also leave out watches and other 'lifestyle' stuff and you are on to winner imo. Japanese have or had a magazine called Car Graphic, obvs couldnt understand a word but used to love flicking through those.

On another note just had a cracking drive on some of my favourite local roads in my Croc but can't for the life of me understand why Porsche decided not to allow you to be able to turn PSM fully off, slighty over the grip limit it will stop play, do 997's have a similar affliction ?

fk me. When did I lose control of the merc model range. Both those 211 and 212 look great value! What's the current one? Code number I mean. W124 then w210 I kind of followed but then life got in the way.

Funnily enough I was at a client meeting in slough the other day and I noticed there was a merc dealer nearby. Called in wanting to sit In a GT which they did not have, but they did have an E63 S (why do you need an S variant on a 63 model?! Talk about model inflation...)

Anyway. I wanted to love it. But I could have, perhaps should have been sat in a Lexus. Everything was present, illuminated in blue led light (wtf) there was literally no aesthetic coherence to anything. Take away the 3 pointed star and I could have been sat in any - I want to say Japanese (and that is not meant as an insult) car. There was no Merc-ness. It's gone.

560SEC last proper car?

I spotted an s version of the e63 wagon on AT. I didn't even know it existed. I had a quick Google and found an auto express article. Seems like a slight increase in bhp of say 5% and maybe some more toys standard. This AT car claims to have ceramic brakes but then the pic showing a red caliper in close up shows a badly worn disc which looks like metal on my phone display - I suppose it could be grey. There appear to be a couple of 212 for sale which boast a performance pack - yawn - but on the c63 I think this translates into an lsd - yay.

Talking Merc estates...

The idea of putting a 55 (non supercharged) engine into a W124 estate... what do you think? I've found a man who claims to have done it and be able to redo it. Presumably involving 55 brakes too.

I can't get the idea out of my head but worried that it'd take something away from the W124...

Oh and on another note we've moved to Bath now. Had the Golf washed at the weekend and since it's sitting on our driveway outside the house I spent 30 mins going over the car afterwards with a cloth and some detailing liquid. I haven't done that for years but it gave me a strange sense of happiness. My box of car polish etc hasn't been opened since about 2008!!!

Is the PSM not relatively loose?

I've never had a car so unintentionally out of shape as the Boxster to the point I wouldn't have believed it possible.

This is when I was on 18s I almost binned it with the PSM on. It needed proper opposite lock otherwise it was away, nothing like the BMW DSC I was familiar with.

Hence being loose.

There's a deep irony in there. The kids watching and lusting after the exotica won't be able to buy a new car with an ICE by the time they can afford to do so.

Different tyres front to rear couldn't have helped in my defence...

It was the incident that prompted me to switch to 17's and actually get some communication.

I thought as much Moose, but as you say to remove the ABS is not ideal really. For sure in greasy conditions and in particular winter, PSM serves a purpose and I'm happy to have it there to avoid moments not wanted or expected.

The car doesn't need a LSD as such either but I think it would be nice to have and combine that with the ability to switch off PSM it would add another level to it's involvement. It's a very competent and fun car at higher speeds but the above changes could perhaps inject a bit more fun in at lower speeds, in 2nd gear corners for example. Also sounds like I need to try the car on 17's wink

Followed an R129 500 SL on to the motorway the other day. Driven by a middle aged man with arm casually rested on the door. A relatively tight slip road to join which it kinda wallowed around but what followed was an impressive surge from about 30 to, er, motorway speeds in a delightfully subtle and fuss free manner. Like.

"Yes!! I have the money! Sir, I'd like to order the 7.0l 9000rpm twin turbo 850bhp super unleaded mega-beast, in carbon with yellow accents"

"Sorry Sir, they stopped doing those 15 years ago. You can now have the 450kW LeccyRS with its very own USB charging facility and a wireless hotspot for up to 23 devices"
