A few photos from the weekend at Spa 6 hrs.

Car was fine there and back and a journey average of 25mpg at around 80ish was pleasing.

As I think I mentioned last year it's a great event, amazing cars, great racing and such welcoming race teams. Walking around the garages where you are confronted by the most increadible selection of cars and the smell of petrol and car wax.

Good accomodation but the 50 odd euro taxi fare was a bit of a sting. Bus is only 3.50 but stops running quite early.
Friend's Evora has a fruity pipe and it sounded fantastic. thumbup
Other car in group is the 4S. Is nice.

Trumpets!

Didn't see this run unfortunately

Cobra guys had a good set up.

During the 6 hour race the drivers had to pull into the Total service station and fill their own cars. Seeing 3 GT40s and C Harris filling up 'his' E-type is quite a wierd one.

Worth the trip. smile

We took that 917 rep to a concours event last year, stunning thing and very accurate (engine aside) and boy oh boy does it sound good. It's even been used by Gulf themselves as a display piece at the Festival of Speed.

Have got a couple more pictures of it but posting from iphone so will put them up later.

Nice to see it running the original Kugelfischer pump. Been told they are worth their weight in gold these days...

Nice pics Crook, I think I stayed at the same place when I went to Spa Classic earlier this year Domiane Long Pre, just the other side of Stavelot ? The 6 hour looks a little less busy than the Classic and probably more serious racing.

Minimoog - I hear you... what you really need is one of these V6 converted MX5s I reckon

Yes, the land of the triangles. The 6hrs is so unbusy it's mad. 35E to get in and all other associated costs are similarly low plus it's only a few hours away.

Also, V6 MX-5 is a good idea.

Had no idea it was a rep. The guy was short on time and keen to get it into the trailer. What engine is it?

Only what I've read on the net but as engine conversions go it looks like a good'un, decently engineered at a half sensible price, whats not to like...

I'm sure it's a hoot but I could probably get in a late-ish 987 with reasonable miles for the total investment involved, given that I couldn't build it myself.

A stunningly hilariously enjoyable car.
It's everything a Cayman isn't and massively the better for it.

Looks like the rust in the rear arch of the Boxster is starting to come back only a few months after being repaired. Trust me to get the only rusty 987 in the country.

To think I went away from an e39 to avoid this st. mad

Any idea where's best to source a rear quarter panel? They're quite hard to find, doubt I could justify the cost with a brand new one from Porsche.

Can see myself getting rid and replacing with a Z4, as much as I'd rather keep it.

Why did it start to rust? Accident damage?

Highly likely it had some sort of minor prang in its history, it was apparently evident that there was a poor initial repair when I put it into the bodyshop.

There's certainly no point in going down the buff down to bare metal route again.
