Arguably the worst set of images used to sell a car that I have seen in recent times but a rare bird.

Likely. I love the idea but the PTW and likely serving up of said motive is unlikely to live up to expectations. 200bhp per ton should make for a giggle in a road car, 250bhp per ton plus being rather more serious in my experience (gearing dependent, natch).

The OH's R53 Cooper S is about the least performance I'd want in a road car. Ride is terrible and it's more than a little darty on the RFTs, but it loves to be hustled. Good fun if a tad uncouth at times.

Tempted by a Clio RS 200 to replace but have to wait and see how budget pans out. Not yet able to afford that 996 GT3 frown
Don't worry DM the market is coming to you, according to Classic Cars this month 996 GT3s are down 20% from their highs scratchchin

Just the 4x what I expected the asking to be.

Quite. Unicorn poo. Would think that will appeal to a collector of such. I'd rather find one I could do an engine transplant with.

Haven't watched but assume the 25 year rule is having a positive effect on R32 and R33 GTRs?

For R32s, very much so - rest will surely follow when they're eligible. Values have really gone up anyway.

I am biased, but I think they are talking out of their arse... Finding a low mileage, original panels 996.X GT3 CS for 20% less than the supposed peak is a futile exercise. The nice cars change hands privately for strong money... The dogs hang around for ages... Perhaps the Manthey 911V is the exception - not a dog, but not selling either...

Yes kind of said slightly tongue in cheek but it is what they printed, the 911V car would probably be fine by me as I like properly modded cars and can appreciate other peoples investment in them, to me that car at the price would be hard to ignore if I were able.

The vast majority of buyer's guides are written by people who have never owned the vehicle and never will. Almost invariably the prices published are fanciful and below trade, never mind actual prices you could buy at. Every time you see one about a car you fancy or own you say to yourself "I'd buy two at that price."

Agree with all of that (and got rocket’s wry smile the first time around too). Would defo take the 911v Manthey, lovely car and totally to my taste (if not budget!).

I also quite like R32/33/34 GTRs but bargains few and far between. 34s long at strong money.

Being a Gran Turismo fan such cars have long intrigued me. I've never even sat in one. My attention has been elsewhere or I'd have made some moves to put an R32 in a shed for the 25 year threshold boost - another ship sailed without me.

Previously, I considered R34 but plumped for NSX as it was a long term crush.

Hindsight... Last one was a long way from standard though, so probably not for the “collector”.

I've been drooling over that 911v gt3 for far too long. I definitely can't afford it - here comes the but - is it worth 5 times what I paid for my 996?

That depends I guess.

As a car to drive from A to B or to the man in the street then no of course it’s not worth 5x a good Carrera.

But... if you want a car with scalpel-like precision for trackdays where striving for something that feels like the perfect lap is the name of the game then yes absolutely it’s worth it.

I hadn’t spotted it previously and absolutely love it.
