I honestly have no idea how any petrol head could see a Cobra as horrid.

Evening all. I was just wondering the collective's thoughts on the Smart Brabus Roadster. Really rather tempted to get one as a third car, and just missed out on this one. Of course, I've not driven one yet...

I think they look fantastic I really like the idea of one but I'm not sure I could live with that gearbox. I'd spend a tad more and get a 500 Abarth personally.

Everyone on the Smart Facebook groups seem to rave about them, comparing them to an Elise. I know, I know...

Just doesn't appeal in the same way. No idea why.

I think it's one of the cases of learn to live with it, years and years ago we were at the 'ring and the UK branch of the Smart Roadster Club turned up. Great bunch of chaps and took us out in them etc. their enthusiasm for them really rubbed off and when they were driving the 'box just didn't seem to matter-they'd obviously mastered the art of the none lurching shift.

Totes (including the Velar - although I hear they're all leased diseasals hehe ) yes

1. FFRR
2. Something smallish and sporty (Cayman or a Lotus Evora / Exige etc.)

Done.

(Ok, my fantasy garage probably has at least 100 different vehicles in it, but as a realistic two car solution, that'll do Stig, that'll do.)
I can't get away with the Velar just yet, every time I see one (especially in profile) it just looks like an estate car with the RR face grafted on (which it is in a roundabout way I suppose).

I noted another FFRR on the forecourt today, not this particular one but you get the picture...

OK it's a 2013 but they are out there with the 2 year warranty. I think I could be tempted this time next year once a big project I've got done this year is out the way.

Top posting, yes please to both the yellow and mint birds cloud9

Ref RR, I am a tad ashamed to admit (and should probably hand my card in now) but I quite enjoy driving Mrs.Rocket spanish 2wd Evoque, it has almost hot hatchesque handling even if the engine is the usual nothing nothing, everything, limiter diseasel. A FFRR would be a lovely thing to own but I would quickly get fed up of replacing wing mirrors and general bumps that would result from her indoors piloting it down the lanes and to Sainsburys.

Whoever paid that for the 993 cab seriously needs their head examining, biggest case of emperors new clothes in the classic pork scene.

The 427 Cobra, lovely but each time you filled it up you get asked 'did you build it yourself mate ?' having just spent the thick end of £150k or whatever, plus 289 for me please, less is more when it comes to Cobras.

The car I really want right now is the TR4 with the 6.2 LS3 conversion on readers cars, something to really make you feel alive on a Sunday morning blast, a car you'd have to think twice about getting out and about in if it is raining, I like those.

Opinions....

That 993 cab is one of the ugliest 911's I have ever seen... but the Mintbird is very, very special.

289 Cobras >>> 427 Cobras.

Saw a couple of Velar's today... very stylish.

That TR4 cloud9

FFRR...
Wife's boss has 2. Both supercharged V8's. One is a black, SWB, the other is a white LWB. Both are on sensible wheels. They are fabulous cars... so relaxing to travel in and one of the best interiors of any car on sale. Quick too, if you don't mind giving Esso piles of cash.

The LWB is massive!

Jeremyc thumbup can you hurry up and buy it then please !

Ref Smart roadster, gearbox aside they must half decent, Gordon Murray runs or ran one for quite a while, but probably better on narrower wheels than the Brabus I would think.

My buddy (not a massive car guy) rated his "more fun" than his Cayman S (987)... But having driven my Dad's many moons ago; I couldn't live with the gearbox.

One of the bike engine conversions could be utterly hilarious though!

Waxing lyrical about cheap Clio running costs is away to bite me in the arse. Garage bill will be knocking on £1k and that's not including a cambelt or damper refurb, ouch!
