Wow. Delusional.
Quicker than a Tuscan down a back road (apparently). They are good fun, have decent steering feel and you could do a few laps in a row without it exploding or the brakes giving up. This is not normal
In the end, you learn to drive around the gearbox and the lack of power by carrying ridiculous amounts of corner speeds. Good fun in its' own way.
Plus it did 25mpg absolutely flat out on the Ring. Impressive.

Other than the number plate, exactly the same as the one I had as a company car '96-'98... and one of the best cars I ever had... you could drive the wheels off it everywhere, and in any conditions. Hilarious fun in the snow. Absolutely loved mine.Wouldn't have an Impreza today though.

I should think Series Mcrae, Catalunya and Terzos make strong money now.
Looking at that car makes me feel very old.
I don't think they made many McRae's... even back in '96/'97 I never saw another one.Looking at that car makes me feel very old.
Best of the limited Impreza's IMO, was the RB5 (ignoring the 22B). After that, they got increasingly stiffer suspension and bigger wheels/tyres... lost the compliant suspension that made the earlier cars such mega B road machines.
Makes me feel old as well... I was 29 when I got mine... I'll be 51 in a few months. How time flies.

I always preferred Evos, until the Impreza got the DCCD.
Yeah, the Impreza's did have a reputation for understeer prior to the center diff change... but you could get round it with a big lift/flick/quick brake on entry... I could get mine completely broadside, and as long as I got back on the gas it would always pull itself straight (after a long 4 wheel drift ).Evo's are great fun and majority of the time feel that bit more focused/hardcore than the equivalent Imprezas but as an all round package I prefer the Subarus. Just.
A widetrack 2.0 Sti is a fantastic thing with the PPP kit (don't need any other mods imo) and meld the line nicely between the two marques.
A classic Impreza is one of the rare Jap cars that have a special feel to them, I remember driving and selling an RA (?) which was a semi lightweight version iirc. Great fun that was.
