Crikey, that's a lot cheaper than I expected to see even bearing in mind it's a fixer-upper, albeit with some Mot.

Funny how things have come full circle from 30 years ago with the launch of the new UP Gti that offers much the same ( with modcons )

Weren't the RA's the ones that came with nothing (ie; no aircon/ABS/soundproofing) to enable them to be converted for motorsport?

I think Evo tested one back in the day and loved it.

Only Evo I've driven was at Jonathan Palmer's Motorsports Experience at Bedford (many years ago)... was the most disappointing car of all those we drove on the day.

Yes I believe that is what the RA was yes It was an absolute stonker of a drive!

Also used a Spec C lightweight jobby (circa 2004MY iirc). No carpets, roof scoop and about 350bhp I think it was....absolute weapon and could cover ground so so quickly!

In fact, just googled an image of Spec C and one of the first results was the actual car that I sold.....(not my ad by the way!)

Yes, that's how I remember the line up from back in the day... My McRae had a bit over 200bhp and felt plenty quick enough... god knows what they felt like with 350bhp!

My friend had a Litchfileld Type 25 Spec C thingy......that was just phenomenal, it really was.

Not only stupidly quick on A/B roads (obviously) but so well sorted too. Really put me in mind that if Lotus were to fettle an Impreza then the result would be very similar. I was mightily impressed with it and I know he misses it dearly.

I know little about Subarus but fancy one at some stage.

This one looks good.

I would need to paint the wheels gold though...

Yep, that'll do yes

Not too keen on the mesh on the bumper but I'm sure it performs a function (protecting the intercooler).

Personally I think that sort of power in one is too much, spoils the balance.

I rather like the bug eyes as the years go on......

I think that's known as a hawk eye.

The earlier blob-eyed effort is as gopping as ever IMO.

I know the one above is a Hawk Eye.

I'm saying that I'm growing to like the early bug eye version. I sold Imprezas new.

Ridiculous chav chariots, however capable they are I couldn't be seen in one, I'd be blackballed from my club. :-)

Today's musing: buy an Aston Vantage 4.3 in either Tungsten Grey or an interesting green for about £35k, retrofit maple veneers and cappings, drop £5k with Bamford Rose for exhaust and lightweight flywheel, and you've got yourself a genuinely quick (but not unusably so) sports/GT that sounds fabulous, goes well, and is probably one of the prettiest cars of the last 30 years. What's not to like? Maybe some leather buckets too.

My picks:

Tungsten 32k miles

California Sage

Chiltern Green

That Chiltern Green one with added 'Bamford' plus some nice wood would beca fabulous thing.

Fast they are not but they do feel so special, look great and sound fab.

I approve.

Here's a V8V question - what are the options for extending the luggage space on them - do they have fix points to attach roof bars, for example? I'm guessing not.

Boot space isn't bad in them, enough for a two seater GT I would have thought.

Or just send one's luggage on ahead wink

A detachable tow bar would be ideal. Only being able to drive on a racetrack with it fitted, less so.
