Drove a 968 Sport about 15 years ago and absolutely loved it. I would think a Turbo S would be superb, but can't remember the last time I saw one of them for sale

Agreed Leins,

The silver rose always looked a little special even with 'THAT!' interior.

Lovely car... but that interior is hilarious... and truly terrible!

Talking of Porsche 968 Clubsports, Griffs and retro magazine covers put me in mind of these and many a happy memory of pouring over these issues and many others........

This one featured a group test of Grale vs Sierra Cosworth vs Legacy Turbo

Odd to see the 968CS chosen as a competitor for the E36 M3, seem like cars designed for very different things - e.g. I thought the CS didn't have back seats?

Dakar Yellow 3.0 (with ambers obvs) is pretty much my perfect E36 M3. I blame that PC magazine that I read far too many times.

Had them all too and spent (probably) far too long memorising every detail I could.

Seem to remember Barker writing about the Diablo picture some time later
admitting they got him to dump the clutch with several millions rpms * to
bag the overtsteery shot for the cover from a standing start around the corner!!

  • ....poetic licence etc
There is/was a chap in Scotland with an '02 with the same engine conversion.
I remember dribbling a little over it at Callendar car show 9/10 years ago. It
was white, bubble/M3 type arches and if memory serves right hand drive too.

I remember the Diablo article... John Barker said he was only doing c.30mph for the sideways shot... too frightened of it at higher speeds laugh

If you don't mind a trip to the end of the alphabet then this one is currently for sale. I saw it a couple of weeks ago ...

Park a new 5'er next to your E28, it's mindblowing.

Lovely car but recommissioned means they left it under a cover for ages hoping the value would increase then had to do much needed maintenence to get it roadworthy...

The CS is not hugely different to the regular Carrera though. But as we all know, a badge sells..

The very one indeed. Still like it! I had E30 (325i) flavour at the time. Nice to
waft about in and the kids fitted in the back which meant it actually got used.

It is! Very different car, and on the Bahn it was just gone every time we got a free bit of tarmac

However, the newer wouldn't really do it for me, and I much prefer the E36. In 3.2 mode it is still plenty quick and was happy to sit at 160 for extended periods. Not quite E30 levels of interaction, but still feels "analogue"

Rocket.
