I'll take this higher miles one for 35k less - from the same dealer. Weird. Is ferrari red paint really that important? What am I missing?

Red is the default associated with the marque. I'm very much in the non-red camp.https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...
That car is cheap, if 80k could be described as such. No details in the ad. but there's no reason for 35k difference so one suspects there's a reason iyswim.
Great cars. Arguably the most robust of the brand and other than the minority of manual 575s, and tlsingle digit 599 quotient of the same, you're looking at the last manual V12 of its ilk. Reckon that's a decent place to keep your coin.

Love sports bikes however recently this landed in my garage as looking after for a poorly friend (well that's what I told the Mrs) . On British B roads it is immense and just works, circa. 100 hp of instant go from the v-twin, supple suspension, brilliant brakes, great visibility, wheelies on demand (or not)
One of my brothers KTM's...He was talking about this as his next purchase...
And a couple of scooters;

Black 550 is cool, and I could easily find a home for the spare £35k....

I would say it is good value in today's mkt... It has doubled in value since I bought my GT3 - the Ferrari 550/575 was also a contender for my wallet's affection at the time. My GT3 has also doubled in value since I bought it... https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...
Although, I still think that the 456GT M on which the chassis of the 550 is based is an even prettier car and better vfm. Easier to sell to the Mrs given that it has proper rear seats. But then I always get put down like a sick pup - "What about that mythical GTS of yours that is in its 3d year of restoration?! Finish it, let's have a Euro trip in it with the kids and then swap it for whatever you like, but you aren't getting another GT car..."
Women, eh?!
Some 456
A 456 on slightly bigger wheels is a magnificent thing - although I would stick with the originals personally.

That's the kind of guy you want to buy a Lotus from, lots of pens in the top pocket of his overalls you know it's been looked after Loving the 959s the blue and the green don't mind at all

What are these like?
Fun fun fun I have one and think it's great. The steering, whilst a bit lacking in feel, is really quick geared and combined with the really pointy front end it makes the car feel really alive and nimble.
It's also far faster than I ever imagined it would be. It feels as fast as the 987 Boxster S that went before it (and is way more fun).
Also, fairly depreciation proof and cheap to run.
Edit - and the brakes (6 piston calipers) are fantastic.
