Moose, interesting quick summary on the 996 differences, the one thing I never really gelled with on my 996 GT3 was the light front end on an empty tank, I always preferred and trusted more in the feel of it with more fuel on board, whilst appreciate using the weight at the rear is what makes a 996 (or any 911) drive the way it does, Porsche have been trying to some degree to engineer it out for years, so I assume the C4 or C4s never suffers from a light front end ? Also assume this comes at the expense of some feel due to the front driven axle ?
Btw still have the 17 inch wheels for your Croc if you still want them.
Only 996 i have driven is mine so very very limited experience and i am rubbish. That said i can't call the front end light. Mine is very low at the front and has a lot of rake. Could that add to the weight a little?Btw still have the 17 inch wheels for your Croc if you still want them.
Sure the weight at the back is always there in a way i dont remember in my factory spec 997 c2s.
I recently switched to tiny 205 fronts and every now and again i think there is a bit less turn in or bite from the front but then i turn the wheel a bit more and remember the car has way more grip than me.
I'm rambling now ... i guess everyone with a 996 needs to let me drive their car, yeah and then I'll be able to construct a more meaningful comparison.
Hi Kids
Just checking in. Good to see you're keeping the place tidy.
It's been a wee while. I see someone stole my GP user name! So I've reverted to the old school.
Hope you're all well. Nice to see the old guard still putting in the bandwidth. I've been a busy boy - now got three kids to be responsible for. Daily whip is now a Merc GL of all things. Got an RSV4 tucked away for the once-in-a-blue-moon outing. Automotive pursuits now very far down the priority list.
Stay safe y'all.

Quick Google finds white, yellow and black.
That 288 looks like Porsche Mexico blue.
More on here, fairly sure it's real https://www.instagram.com/azzurrodino/?hl=enThat 288 looks like Porsche Mexico blue.
Moose no probs and as and when on the Croc wheels but once sold said funds will be reinvested into the Croc, leaning towards a set of Girodiscs for the front.
996.1 C2 owner here
I've never found the front end light, although it does have a nicer turn in with a full tank of fuel on board. I agree that the C4S models feel more planted to the road than a narrow body car, but then they do weigh a reasonable chunk more. I find the rear end quite playful, although I do prefer the car that way. I've only had one 'moment', but it was bloody slippery and I was pushing on a tad too much for the conditions in all honesty so we can blame driver error for that
GT3's do feel very different to drive than a vanilla model, I've driven a fair few but not in wet or slippery conditions. I did leave one in my wake down the A272, in fairness to him he had cup tyres on and it was -1 so he was doing bloody well to keep it on the straight and narrow

I'll take this higher miles one for 35k less - from the same dealer. Weird. Is ferrari red paint really that important? What am I missing?

I would say it is good value in today's mkt... It has doubled in value since I bought my GT3 - the Ferrari 550/575 was also a contender for my wallet's affection at the time. My GT3 has also doubled in value since I bought it... https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...
Although, I still think that the 456GT M on which the chassis of the 550 is based is an even prettier car and better vfm. Easier to sell to the Mrs given that it has proper rear seats. But then I always get put down like a sick pup - "What about that mythical GTS of yours that is in its 3d year of restoration?! Finish it, let's have a Euro trip in it with the kids and then swap it for whatever you like, but you aren't getting another GT car..."
Women, eh?!
