Does anyone ever have horrific luck with more than one car at a time?
One at a time is a pain but as if the 7 hasn't given me enough grief the Clio's shat it's fking diff.

Kind of. The Frog needed suspension and brake fettling and the LS shat its exhaust and aircon, all in the same week this month. The LS in particular will smart a bit.One at a time is a pain but as if the 7 hasn't given me enough grief the Clio's shat it's fking diff.

I've needed both cars in the garage at the same time before due to broken springs etc., stuff that you shouldn't really continue driving on but never with two pretty big failures at the same time Rocket. said:
Top posting gents, today I'd like this as a project car, with perhaps a 986 Boxster S engine swap some wide arches and Fuchs

Whilst I have wee Brother's Croc in this state (wheels are being re-done). Is there anything
worthwhile doing underneath whilst we wait? We have dynax s50 ready to go onto/into
various nooks/crannies/arches once scrubbed and some black paint for a bit of 'detail'. We
are not going mad as its a DD and its done mid 50'sK. Brakes were done recently &
bushes all ok. I was thinking brake calliper paint and there are new wheel bolts already
waiting. Is it worth removing the flat plastic floor panels as it looks a right old phaff!?
Just looking for thoughts from those who have already been here before...
Cheers

Cheers Cmoose & JeremyC for good ideas!
The rear mud guards are something I would have not thought of until after and
the front rads do indeed have some leavage in them so that will get attended to.
I did the leading edges of the sills in plasti-dip a few months or so ago. They look
fine from a few feet away (or in pics!) and the rubbery texture seems to be working
well so far. Still tempted with the brake callipers, but thinking plain black.
If you like the subtle/muted look Cmoose then you would appreciate the AP's
on the Cerbera, original hue, battleship grey! (and yes they are staying like that!)

Cmoose,
I did a very gentle rub down as they were beginning to pit a little. I used Genolite just
to be safe then used plasti-dips' own primer which they claim makes things 'more permanent'
and then applied a couple of coats of the Red.
If down on your hand and knees up close you can of course see it, but there again as
Patrick is saying, its a kind of stone chip effect anyway and really there to protect the sills.
I also did the rears directly behind the tyres as the plastic was turning white through the
paint being worn away. I simply cleaned there and dabbed on some red.
My thinking is the slightly rubbery texture should reduce the stone impact and hopefully
last longer and so far so good in that respect. It was either that or 'proper' paint and then
3M film or similar cut and shaped to make it last.

How many miles has it done?
Will you be hitting the eject button from barge ownership too?

Not inclined to bail just yet, it's the best car I've ever had (not that it's much of a horse race). I can source a used box for about 500, depends what the fitting quotes turn out to be.
I'm told it's probably the TC seal blown, box might not be terminal, dunno though really.

All wheel arch liners removed on the Croc and the little rear spats too. Pleasantly surprised by the lack
of any rot, but lots of hidden muck. Inside the rear arch lips especially and awkward to really get at but
Bilt Hamber surfex HD worked very well and made the rear ally arms look pretty too! One large spray tin
of the S50 wax did all 4 corners and other than one (N/S front) bumpstop looking rather secondhand
everything appeared fine...
Of course actually having decent weather made a dirty job a bit nicer! Just got to nail it all back together
now......

Anyone used amazon for car parts?
The Boxster has a number of current issues at the moment sadly, but the pressing issue was an engine warning light caused by ageing/buggered 02 censors and a longstanding issue with the headlight height sensor on the rear axle. Went in the local Bosch specialist who quoted £210 per sensor. Amazon have them brand new and official Bosch at £56...

I've bought brake pads on Amazon IIRC. No different to eBay really.
