Re the Lotus Cortina I remember reading Car magazine when Jamie Kitman used to write for it (as did Alexi Sayle) and he used his to drive to watch the Brooklyn Dodgers as he could safely park it anywhere as nobody knew what it was.
Whilst I'm reminiscing about magazines, there was a great article in Performance car about the NSX-R against the 964 RS back when they were cheaper than Boxters about how the 'R was a great road car, the RS was too hard for the road but on track the RS was superb.
I remember thinking then that I would very much like an RS. Still thinking it.

Speak Snr has every issue of CAR magazine from day 1, quite a collection!!

I’m in my 2nd Critical Design Review of the day with customers, it’s 17:46 and Loon is sending me adverts for historic prepped MGBs with valid HTP. It’s not fair.

I haven't got time to idly look at old cars 'n stuff
Jolly holidays in Jersey last week happily coincided with a round of the British Hillclimb Championship at Bouley Bay.
Nice to see this being used, as well as a variety of bikes, karts and cars of all ages and classes.

That was a 993RS in the Road Racers PC article surely? Not the Brian Laban fave - the 964RS I remember thinking then that I would very much like an RS. Still thinking it.

The missing bit of the air intake system means that engine will only ever see piping hot under bonnet air and not fresh cool air, and the B9 3.5 made 245bhp, not 240, which was the output of the B8 3.2 engine.s m said:

There is an article on the 993 / NSX which came up when I searched but I'm sure the article I read was a 964 as at the time I was not a fan of the 993 at all.Maybe it wasn't PC, it could well have been CAR.
I went to a track day at Oulton Park in the mid 90's and there was a NSX there modded for track work - big body work, twin turbos, no interior etc. It only managed a couple of laps unfortunately as one of the turbos let go. There was an F40 there that had been modded as well.
Had loads of fun in my Impreza and a friends 993RS.

Back in the day of using a 993RS as a daily driver, "track slag" and station car it was not unusual to find a track prepared NSX on the trackday scene.
I learnt to be wary of them as the pace quickened, I can recall many occasions how they would let go in a big way when pushed. This may partly be down to the driver, but they seemed to be uncatchable once they snapped.
Maybe you had to be Senna to drive one above 8/10 ths? Mid engined effect?
The 993RS appeared to communicate it's intentions more readily until the high level when the pendulum effect finally took over!
Yes. Early cars were said to be snappy. A relatively high limit with an abrupt cliff edge with not much indication where you were at. The videos of Senna dancing on the edge are more a reflection of his abilities than the car's I think. The wheels and tyre sizes evolved only time, as did springs, dampers and roll bars as the set up was evolved like most other cars. NA2 certainly felt poised and progressive. That said, as a road car you'd be going pretty silly before encroaching on limits.I learnt to be wary of them as the pace quickened, I can recall many occasions how they would let go in a big way when pushed. This may partly be down to the driver, but they seemed to be uncatchable once they snapped.

ISTR the various versions doing reasonably well on Autocar handling days and PCOTY etc.
I love the NSX...
However we raced against an ex-GT series one at Spa last year. CF wide bodywork, CF intake with a huge snorkel. Big wing, splitter, canards and diffuser galore, centrelock wheels as well Alcons that would have probably stopped even the Titanic.
Perhaps it was the driver, but it had its ass handed to it on a plate by a number of E46 M3s developed for the GT Cup/Britcar...
Technology and progress, eh...

Won its class at Le Mans in 1995 (Top 10 overall) so obviously not a total basket case. However we raced against an ex-GT series one at Spa last year. CF wide bodywork, CF intake with a huge snorkel.
