I'll be buying a few things if it does........I don't think it's going to.

The full results aren't on their site yet. 25 of 150 "still for sale".

The market cooled a bit over 12 months ago IMO. However, good examples are still selling and plenty of folk with money are still investing in cars. It will take a significantly greater shift in interest rates and tax rules to make a dent IMHO.
I hear you and I kind of agree... However...

This particular GTO would have made $70mm 18mths ago... The 288 not selling is also a sign...

For my sins I am a Trader - I cannot explain how and when, but after 18yrs in the game, I think I can “feel” things. Trust me, I am feeling a thing now. Not a catastrophic crash, but the time when we could talk about cars as the new paradigm has gone...

Funny how everyone says that, but when the opportunity presents itself it rarely happens for a number of reasons...

First and foremost, because you would think that you would get it even cheaper tomorrow. I see it in my job daily. When there is a run on something and everyone is selling, despite being the best time to buy (excuse the obvious sucking eggs and all that) rarely, and that includes even the best like the PIMCOs, Soros, Fidelity, Aberdeen etc rarely get it right.

Interesting. So what do you "feel" is going to be the new one?

There are always opportunities with contagion in markets.

If there is an upset over the Brexit negotiations with the £ getting hit, what an opportunity that might present to sell a Lhd GT3 back to Europe? smile
Even at 1.1 things must look rosy in the LHD garden?!

Europe has always been my only chance for that car anyway... smile

The opportunity is already there - car was bought at 1.28, now we are at 1.11, on top it has effectively doubled in EUR and yes, it would be tempting to send her back to pastures greener and buy a Corvette Z06 for my sins...

To be honest I don’t know why I am not writing an advert on mobile.de

As for the “thing” re ferris’s question...

I sense uneasyness - Tom Hartley’s 2 LHD GT3RSs have not sold now for about 6mths. My brother is struggling to shift two absolutely mint and properly restored by him muscle cars at money where he would barely make a dollar. The Trader that he works with is also genuinely struggling with all his stock, which was flying out of the door this time last year. Suddenly we are being offered cars for restoration that we would not have dared to dream of months ago, 911s appearing on AutoTrader and again, and again and not selling, a friend who is a small, but totally legit BMW Trader in the 5-20k bracket and he is telling me the market is “funny” and “dangerous”. Seeing stuff like 928 GTSs making £50k+ at an auction last year and now struggling to sell for £35k (both Ok-ish, but nothing special cars), another mate in the trade struggling to shift a minthier than mint Maserati GT MC Shift for mid £40s. He had the car for 6 months!

Of course it is all conjecture and in my head, but it feels that the record is slowing down and everyone is looking for a chair. For those of us who don’t have to sell - not an issue for now, but for others? I am on holiday, surrounded by Greeks, who are probably Turks wanting to be Italians, hence a lot of idle thoughts...

The question was what is the next thing (if cars are no longer a thing)?

I was hoping for something a bit less obvious but I guess the treasury would like it.

Quiet lately.

Anyway, GT3 that (if only it had coded buckets) is my dream car, a Revival entry that is not silly money and a curio;

Back from holiday and todays want is a MK2 Golf GTI. Looking at the prices I really should have bought the 30,000 mile car a few years back for £8500, I didn't want to pay more than £8k for it banghead

Great post Loon.

Chrome orange Esprit GT3 is pretty special (and surely these are undervalued?).

SZ is lovely too. The last few SZ’s I’ve seen for sale have been closer to £70k so this doesn’t look badly priced at all.

In other news I’ve put 500 Miles on the Mondial and love it. It comes alive on fast sweeping A roads. Although it doesn’t scream round to its red line it has plenty of go. In some ways (steering, communication of the chassis) I find myself comparing it to an Elise. Which is a good thing. Driving position is awful though. Heel and toeing is starting to feel a bit more natural too.

moose - I noted your request and will drop you a note at some point. You’re welcome to come and have a look round the car!

MK2 Golf still a chav car to me I'm afraid. You can blame some former neighbours of mine for that.

The private plate on the Esprit is as close to FLATUS as LOTUS smile

The SZ for me please. You could park this up outside the casino in Monaco and it would still turn heads.

Saw an old episode of Wheeler Dealers recently (don't @ me) and they got £15K for theirs IIRC

Glad to hear that you are enjoying getting to know the Donkey chum, as I may have mentioned alreay ( wink ) I do really like that car of yours yes

Hethel GT3's do look pretty good value to me still, in fact most Esprit variants are pretty cheap per se compared to the Italian & German rivals but then that has long since been the case really.
A GT3 or early (pre-facelift) V8 would be a nice thing to have.......

LOL @ FLATUS

I'm in a funny mood re cars... maybe it's do to with turning 42... kind of fed up with everything. If I could be bothered I would sell the 928, the E46 M3 and the 12C Spider and just keep the 993RS clone. Maybe buy a new Alpine. And a Range Rover to waft about in
