Despite the four-banger, it’s not a bad little runaround. You can see how they knock them out for the price, mind.
I've just come back from a 3 week trip in one of them, doing Route 66 and then some of the national parks in the southwest.
I thought the 4-pot was very poor. Sure it has enough ponies, but my god does it sound bad, even by the very low standard set by other 4 pot turbocharged engines. And it feels very lethargic, with no willingness to climb up the revs.
Mine also came with the 10(?!) speed auto which made it even worse. In normal mode it didn't know what it wanted to do so just kept shuffling gears randomly (8-4-7-10-5-6-5-10-...), and compounded with the typical slow American mapping of the slush boxes made for a really frustrating experience. In sport mode it was really jerky and slammed the gears in.

Fortunately the car at least feels well planted and is very easy to throw around with nice little slides. It's also great fun on american dirt roads, they should make a WRC version of this car hehe

505 ftw.

We spent as much time looking at the bloody Raleigh Grifter as anything else.
The two mint RDs were stunning.
As was the modernised Charger. Very neatly done and a lovely green.

Re the gorgeous Aurelias , I could not believe how ornate the glass is on the headlights on the black one.
Such a broad variety of cars including a manual 6.6 Trans Am in the car park.

Really surpassed any expectations I had.

Mine is also auto - can’t say I’ve noticed it randomly shuffling, mind.

What I can’t get my head round is why, when you drop the roof, it doesn’t re-raise the windows at the end of the cycle. One of those annoying things that would drive you mad if you owned it.

The projected ponies at night are a wonderfully cheesy gimmick.

Dammit, I got given an Ecoboost!
So did I. Until I got a puncture on day 1 and the only replacement Mustang they had was the full fat version. biggrin

Didn't post this pic as wanted to check if it was a real one - couldn't believe someone would just leave a 250 SWB for everyone to lean on/scratch - but it checks out as a '250 GT', so maybe a rebody.

Very, very pretty.

I'd thoroughly recommend the Scramble for all petrolheads... there's something for everyone.

Is there some kind of thread deal on fly/drive jollies in the US?!

I didn't get one (too distracted by the 250)... James might have.

The 'Grandad' was in very good shape.

Sunday Scramble was a fabulous event, weather was cracking so the hour and a half drive each way was great, top down at 7am was chilly but you have to make the most of it.

The displays were superb, in particular the small unassuming shed full of Bentleys, the pair of Aurelias (the picture doesn’t do the paintwork justice), 250 Swb, Giulia Super and my perfect E Type in blue.

Great Porsche turnout as it has been for most events this year, 959 S and green 991E was special as well as plethora of old and new scattered around and in the club parking.

Great little event.

Maybe we could try to do a thread meet at the next one... would be good to meet a few more of the like minded people on here in person.

Makes sense. So not £8M, but still pretty valuable, and still very pretty.

Whilst I took a photo of the Maestro (for someone else!), I didn't take any of the Granada. It was very tidy though, but being parked next to the 250 homage it didn't get much of a look in biggrin
