I've got a friend that built a cal look Beetle on Fuchs in the same colour. It's a great colour and works well on cars from a certain era

Massive amounts of want... just about as desirable as a car can be for me. ST is the prettiest 911 shape of all time, built by Tuthill, it will be seriously fast with 340bhp and I’d guess c.1000-1100kg... oh, and the colour is just fabulous.

Yes, it’s expensive in absolute terms, but it’s a Tuthill car, so it will have been done properly... its relatively cheap compared to a 2.7rs, or a Singer.... or any number of reps put together by lesser builders.

Maybe I could paint my 996 that colour. I was dreaming about a much more standard cream type beige - I hate trying to describe colours with words. Perhaps a random image is better

Agree with this entirely - has to be more fun than a 7.2 RS for similar money.

So this or an Alfaholics GTA-R? What a choice... smile

Indeed!

I had a good look around an Alfaholics GTA-R at the London Classic Car show a few years back... looked bloody fabulous, but they seem a bit overpriced at £250k for the full fat version yikes

However, I'd expect the Tuthill car above cost a bit more to build than the current asking price.

That would be a very tough call between the two for me, I am an Alfa man through and through but I also love 911 Pork.

Apropos of nothing.....

I think Chris and I might just have to make the choice based on being able to fit in and drive the damn thing. irked

So, Pork it is. We're not sufficiently Italianate in the short-legs-long-arms department. wink

Yep it seems almost good value. Is a 996 GT3 the 'poor man's' alternative?

Why can’t they build cars that look that good now?

Is it purely down to regulations like pedestrian crash protection etc or manufacturers thinking the future looks angular and jagged?

Surely someone like Konigsegg could build something that stunning?

Pedestrian protection has a lot to answer for. That front end wouldn’t be possible today.

As does aerodynamics. Once we learned what works and what doesn’t a lot of interesting styling was not going to be permitted if it didn’t work in the wind tunnel.

I’d be happy enough to take a drop in mpg for those looks!
Pedestrian crash protection, well I’ve never actually hit a person....
