Real Good Number Plates vol 5

This car had been kicking about in Aberdeen for a long time now. The local newspaper posted it after spotting it yesterday and the Facebook comments kicked off.
A lot of naming and shaming for bad driving and illegal parking. It was then pointed out that a car can only be used for 6 months before having to be registered to the UK. The owner then said he was a student and that allowed him to keep the car for the duration of his stay.
Is he legal? Given the comments by other people it sounded like he didn't give two hoots about driving laws and hides behind the foreign plate.

I saw AAA1A on a Volvo this week. Anyone know if it was released in 63 (presumably with some fanfare) or is it a more recent DVLA auction sale?
Hampshire's first suffix numbers were in January 1965 with AAA-C, one of the last to change over.Edited by oxford drinker on Monday 25th September 11:52
