Has anyone bought an '18 plate today? I considered 3. One going to auction, the other I didn't like enough for the price they wanted (and I'd only sit on it with the hope of a return). And the third I think I was beaten to.

RO18 ERT - going to auction.

DE18 OYS - "is not available"

BB18 BBB - was £1,299 and now for sale with RegTransfers for £2,299.

DVLA sell off most of the NI plates cheap on their site (most £399). One of these stuck out as Real Good (my opinion) and I had to buy it - just need a car with a Big Block 454 for it to go on.

They're nasty!
Context is key though, as he says, put the BIG 454 plate on a Chevy C10 454SS and it'll look right. The rest are pony.

As paddy plates go, I like the 3x3s. Every morning on the way to work I see IIG 700 and really like it.

Years ago I saw SSS 555S
Rumour was, the chap also had S555 SSS and SS55 SSS
Anyone know if this is correct?

(Nice collection – if he was a snake enthusiast….)

Think one of those I have seen on a Dodge Viper.

I remember I wanted a plate back in 1999. That was before broadbandlaugh

You had to call to get a plate. Rigged up a US Robotics and set to to dial... engaged tone,,, hang up, wait 2 seconds and redial, simples.

Had it hitting engaged tones for a full day and a halflaugh before I finally got a ringing tone

And yes, I did manage to get my desired plate for a bargain £399.

There is a family near us with 10K, 1OK, OK1 and a few other good ones.
All are on pretty normal cars. Don’t see them very often though.

I agree. Cut down plates to accentuate a number are just shouting: 'Look at me and my plate. I've got a short number, I've got money, I've got swarovski crystals glued to my Rolex and a hole in my shirt sleeve so that you can't miss it!' LOOK AT MEEEEEEEE!

Regular plate with small number: 'Oh, really, meh, didn't think about it'. Bit classier... wink
