On a re-run of "Pointless" this week a question was in which television series the car "FAB 1" featured (Thunderbirds). Alexander Armstrong mentioned he had seen a blacked out Rolls Royce coupe with the numberplate MED1A.

A very well known plate.. Sold in the first ever DVLA auction held in Dec 89 and made £23,000... Probably worth 10x that today..?

Does Evans still own that, (FAB 1) or did it go with the rest of his collection?

It's good but however good it always looks odd when it doesn't fit the UK pattern and you can see it a mile off.

Further explanation required. Are you talking about the spacing?

Yes, the "mile off" signifying that before you get to see the plate clearly you can see it's illegal. Not that MED 1A is not a great plate, just not what it is being portrayed as in this photo. smile

When I worked in Wembley a farzand years ago there were two directors of a nearby electronics firm with RADIO 1 and RADIO 2 on an Espada and a Silver Shadow respectively. I forgave them.

It’s not legal, the font is pre 2001 and it’s not spaced correctly, shame as it’s a good plate.

F1 and my three initials is available, I keep thinking about it.
