Some really nice old cars taking part in a vintage rally had stopped off for tea. The rain was very heavy just after this and some of the cars didn't have any protection from the rain at all.
Considering how easy it is for the DVLA to make money out of private registrations, why is it that when you request the release of a prevously unregistered plate that it takes f
king ages to get to auction (if at all) i.e. 3-6 months and why don't they have more auctions? Is it because it's a government run organisation meaning that, by default, even the simplest of tasks takes way longer than you'd expect compared to a private organisation?

Few reasons I guess. They must get thousands of requests to release plates and this takes time to go through and organize which auction they are putting it into, as they won't put very similar plates in at the same time to keep them more exclusive for each auction.king ages to get to auction (if at all) i.e. 3-6 months and why don't they have more auctions? They obviously want to get as much money as possible for each plate so having a couple of months between auctions gives people time to plan ahead, see whats available and raise funds etc.
Regarding the timescale, I requested mine and heard nothing for over a year until I chased it up with a dvla contact I was given and then it was put into auction within months.

Happened to me , don’t t know or care how rich he or she was though , I made a decision on what I was prepared to pay , someone bid more , I dropped out , it’s quite an easy decision really.d outbids you on the day... lolNot annoyed in the slightest.

I paid more than I wanted for a plate I’d requested the DVLA released I have to admit. Waited a few years from my request for a never issued plate and when it came to auction I felt obligated to win it.
To be fair my limit I’d set myself was quite a bit higher than I should have set , but it just kept going higher.I in effect drew two lines , both of them were out bid , that’s life we move on.
