Much better picture. Thanks, I'll update it with that pic. Maybe tonight as I have 20 to update

I went through the next DVLA auction lots earlier, and one of the lots really caught my eye:

337 LEE - £1,200 reserve.

Last seen on a Golf

At this point the photosharing site has censored the pic of 4 D on a very nice Ferrari 812. Will upload to the SS site soon

Last seen on an aging Alhambra.... now on a 120K+ Zafira Tourer... not sure if that's an upgradelaugh

I'd count this one as an upgrade

How's this for an upgrade. Previously on a VW....

Yes, thats right Lord Provost of Glasgow now goes around in a roller.... but it was a gift

Newer GTC

Still like their short plate....

I love this one. Was transferred from an 80's Carina

Leeds Mayor Car.... wonder what the lease charge on that is....

Does anyone ever get these plates for reserve or even near?

It does happen. Some don't even attract bids so are sold at their reserve.

Do you mean as an unsold lot that can be bought after?

It's rare now that there are any left unsold at the live auctions, probably happens more for the timed ones as they are generally less desirable and twice as many plates being auctioned.

I put some bids in before the auction a few months ago that were all above the reserve and didn't get anything. I guess you need to be there or bid live online.

When DVLA first started selling at Auctions ALL numbers were sold without reserve..... The auction halls were held in huge conference halls and bargains could be had....I went to a few and bought 6 or 7 The dealers used to play it in turns to who would bid on next lot which I presume DVLA then realised they had to put reserves on them....yes

Yes, didn’t clarify that it’s at the end of the days sale they’re offered. And I agree, it is rare it happens.

2 or 3 plates id have a bid on at next weeks timed auction. I've only ever bid on the live auctions previously, it says bids cannot be cancelled so presumably you can't bid on a few and if you win one then cancel.

Certainly a lot cheaper to buy direct from the DVLA if you can. Less exotic choice but VAT included and no auctioneer's fees.
