I got a letter one day from some reg plate company claiming they had a number plate for me despite not been looking for one . They had K41NEB ( my first name and initial ) and wanted 2.5k , next day I went in dvla reg auction site and the plate was on it and I bought it , £150 , was the only bidder and so cheap that I stuck it on my van.
£300 + fees actually but yes still a lot cheaper than going through other dealers smile

I'd get it off your van which hasn't had an MOT since May '17, (as you know!)

A really, really good plate. Looks to be an original issue too.

Clear or Stained? £100 or confiscation. smile
Hardly really, really good.

So tell me, why’s it really, really good, assuming you think it is?

That glass plate is fantastic!! If you're a glazier like the company van it's on, it doesn't get any better!

Just saw 001 001 on a white Aston Martin in near Plymouth - where’s that from?
OO 1001 ?
Correct, orginal issue from Chelmsford I believe?
Ah cool - thanks. Was spaced how I put it but looked good.
Yep, Chelmsford - a real oddity. OO should have been a Birmingham issue in the 20s but was passed over to avoid confusion. It was allocated to Chelmsford when their combinations were running really short. So, in July 1962 OO was allocated, issued 1-9999 and was followed by AOO-YOO forward and reverse.

At best I’d describe it as catchy (albeit illegal). I just don’t get the knicker-wetting “really, really good” bit. Each to their own etc.

It is based on your recent submissions of "OF02 PUB" and "AR51 DAD".

From memory that’s an old Co Armagh plate, possibly 1960s or early 70s.
Close enough - yes Armagh but a tad earlier, 1957.
I thought Armagh went from XZ to AIB, but obviously not. Do you know what registration was used between the above?
My sister got a new Mini when she passed her test and the reg was AIB, even though we lived in Co Down, my father bought his cars in Armagh.

XZ ended in1962
reverse IB ran from April 62 -November 65
reverse LZ from November 65- March 69
reverse XZ from March 69-March 72
Then AIB 1and so on

so strictly speaking if the plate had been 29 XZ you'd have been right
