USA 3 on a white Range Rover
a bit OT but since it was halloween last night I watched the original version of "The Omen". Gregory Peck was the US ambassador to the UK and had a Daimler with USA 1 as the registration
I checked on USA 1 and USA 2 but they don't come up on the DVLA site.
Any idea if they actually might be used by the USA embassy in the UK in some way ?

USA 1 was an early issue by Aberdeenshire in September 1959, so that will definitely be diplo. USA 2 and 3 were issued in the normal course in April 1961 but it entirely possible they were bought for diplo use, or even resurrected after scrapping (diplo plates break all the rules!)
USA 1 is in private ownership.http://nice-reg.co.uk/number-plates/a-z/U/USA1.htm...

USA 1 on Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud I Drophead Coupe by H.J.Mulliner. This Rolls-Royce was never an embassy car but was leant by a private owner for the visit of President Eisenhower in 1959. He had requested an open car which the government didn't have, and they borrowed this model and had USA 1 put on it for the visit. One car that was an embassy car that displayed this registration was a black Checker Motors Checker Cab which was recorded on tv news in 1963.

A new car purchase needs a snappy new plate - my budget isn't huge, but any pointers of where to go/look for something in the 3x3 variety please? (I have done some basic research, but nothing is standing out so far)
Dvla auction next week, have a look through the hundreds on offer there.CRA1G said:
