Does anyone know what has happened to nice-reg.co.uk? Whenever I try to go to that site I end up redirected to 'win a country home'....

Can anyone UK side test it please?

Ta muchly
Same happened to me. Then typed in www.nicereg.com and was taken to a page saying that Nice Reg was for sale.
I know the guy who ran it, in fact I contributed a lot of photos to it. It was taking up too much time and costing too much to run, so he said he has closed it down. Shame, it was a great site

Saw 1002 D on an Audi A1 yesterday, what's the story with these 4x1s?
Some were issued in the 1950s and 1960s as authorities ran out of combinations. Some series started at 1000 rather than 1.
Those issued with approx. dates:
D (Jul 64, Kent), E (Apr 53, Staffordshire), F (Feb 57, Essex) H (Jun 53, Middlesex), K (April 60 Liverpool), N (Jun 59, Manchester), R (Nov 62, Derbyshire), U (May 57, Leeds) and W (Mar 60, Sheffield)
Essex were running so short they issued the previously unused OO xxxx in 1961, very few were issuing two letter prefixes at that time.
Thanks a lot for that thumbup

Spotted the Audi in Kent
Good info from Oxford Drinker. For some reason Kent started reverse D at 2, and issued up to 5700 D when they started B suffix. 1 D and some 5701 D + combinations were / are being sold by DVLA, as well as single letters not originally issued.

Just checked my facts in Lss Newall's book to make sure I'd not got it wrong
D (Kent) commenced at 2 (1 D was allocated to them but not issued) The last was 5678 D before going to AKE 1B
E (Staffs) was the first reverse formation issue, starting at 1000. After 2500, the decree came that all reverse plates should be 3 figure 123 ABC format, so E was suspended, 2501-9999 being issued later in 1958 when Staffs ran out of 3 letter combos. When these and 2 letter reversed were finished, Staffs was allocated BF in 1960 commencing with CBF 1.
F, H, K and R issued from 1
N from 1000, W from 1001
U from 1 for bikes, 1000 for cars
nerd
Shows I should go through the thread before replying! I also have Newall's book, it's a gem.And you were more accurate than me on the last Kent issue, I was relying on my dodgy memory !

1 D was reserved for someone, when they didn't take it by the following year (when they introduced the first 'A' plates) they lost their reservation
