Is this tyre save able? It's not leaking and can't see any canvas but concerned that it's on the front now (spotted it when swapping the wheels front to back)

If you prise the cut open with your fingernails, can you see any steel or fibres etc or just rubber? If just rubber I'd probably continue to use it.

I've had something simon on the sidewall, I don't think it'll be going back on the car

It didn't look like it was down to the canvas but as it is quite a narrow slit it was difficult to pull the rubber apart to see, hopefully that's a good sign.

SLING. It's narrow at moment, and possibly just skin deep, but what happens after the tread has gotten hot and flexed a bit more. And one day at 70( or 70+) the crack opens and the tyre deflates in a hurry ?

df76- it's not just the crack on that one that would make me say BIN, it's the wear on the side of the side wall-possible kerb rubbing .

Regardless it's going to have to stay for the next couple of weeks at least, as Friday I'm coughing up for 2 assemetric 3s and it also looks like offside camber is miles out as inside shoulder has worn badly so tracking will need to be done too.

The damaged tyre and the matching one on the other side are assemetric 2s that have barely worn so a bit gutted really

That tyre does look buggered, regardless of the slit.

If the cords aren't visible and there is no sign of distortion around the cut, you can be fairly confident it isn't going to start losing air. There are a couple more layers of rubber and polymer bands before you get down to the air.

Yes, and also while the close up pic makes the damage look massive, scaling it to the grooves indicates that it's actually far from.
