Isn't it just.
You never said: what is 'a bit much' about driving a convertible when it's cold outside?SWoll said:
It was the days when he walked into the office dressed like he was heading off on an arctic expedition as the temp was well into the minus end of the scale. Just a thought that crossed my mind, fair play to him for his commitment to the cause as I know I wouldn't be willing to put that much effort in for a bit of fresh air.
Depends what you define by: 'that much effort' I just put on a warm hat / scarf / gloves. Certainly not a significant amount of effort when most people wear hat / gloves in the winter anyway. It's an extremely enjoyable experience. Big warm hat, heater on, roof off. Looks of bemusement add to the general entertainment too.
I think it can damage the roof easily though when the roof fabric gets too cold <7c. That's the main issue.

I was told the plastic rear window can split in cold conditions when folding roof down.
I just fold it carefully.
I have broken one on an mx5 years ago. I was supposed to unzip it before folding it...I don't think all mx5's have that option.I just fold it carefully.

It really was f*****g cold. Took him about 10 minutes to sort himself out in the gents once he got into the office and then did it all again before leaving at the end of the day. I salute him now but at the time told him I thought he was a nutter, which got a thumbs up in response before he went out the door.
Must be a bit of a pussy! Even when it's near freezing a warm hat, heater on and some gloves does the trick.johnwilliams77 said:

After a few minutes, we hit roadworks and slowed to a crawl, at the exact same moment the light rain turned to a hail storm. We were instantly drenched. We got the strangest looks, but we were soaked to the skin, so just continued the journey laughing. There's something a little odd about convertible owners
You just have to laugh at the situation and yourself. At least you made a memory of an amusing event. Better than another forgotten day in a dull box. k-ink said:

Indeed. I imagine the ensuing bout of pneumonia and huge repair bill due to electrical faults and damaged upholstery always brings a smile.
Nah. For a Winter's day, jacket, hat, gloves, heated seats, open air - exhilarating.Maybe take multi vitamins too
Oh, and no electrical faults or damaged upholstery. All fine.
