Best place for cheap cars?
Discussion
Unlikely there will be a definitive answer, just wanting to make sure I haven't missed anywhere.
I'm looking for sub £1500 cars. Find AT with there £50 odd listing fee somewhat lacking and PH often too specialist.
Ebay seems to to have to most content but a lot of junk. Gumtree search brings up all sorts of rubbish so I generally don't bother. Car & Classic maybe better for the older stuff but struggling to find much modern 2001+ on there.
Anywhere else I should be checking? Suppose owners forums would be worth looking at as I am looking for a couple of specific models.
Thanks

Not sure if BS, pub bore or if there is any truth in it, but a guy at the pub was telling me he rocks up at the local WBAC waits til he spots something he likes, then asks the owner asks how much WBAC have offered and he offers £100 more. He seemed to be picking up some interesting cars on the cheap.
Depending on your timeframe this may be worth a try.
there are a considerable amount of Volvos purchased by private owners who keep them for years. I popped into my local Volvo dealer and talked to the sales manager and told him I was after a one owner px (My budget was £3k for a V70 D5 163 SE).
I managed to source one through AT that week, but 2.5 weeks later the dealer called me and offered me a car which met my criteria.
If time on your side it maybe worth a try.

Good idea actually, considering the majority of people are clueless when it comes to car values and WBAC seriously lowballs anything that is not German and Diesel. On £3000 or so vehicles, WBAC offers are normally £1500 and lower.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
