Looks like something you'd find dumped in a council estate c.1990, but underneath.....

I quite admire the 'skillz' required to do something like that, but what would you actually use it for? It's not a racer, it's not particularly impressive to look at or use, it's probably not really very usable as a weekend 'classic'. Seems to be something and nothing.

There are better ways to spend my 8 grand.

If you're young and live somewhere grim, that'd be a great Q-car.

Who in their right mind would nick grandad's hearse smile

Now that I'm neither young nor constantly skint the love of rat cars / bikes has waned somewhat.

ETA: I see the alarm has made it all the way from the 80s too.

It's an XJ40. How the hell can an XJ40 ever be worth that kind of money?

no, they are great cars, though it would have to be very special to be worth £9k.

Grossly over-budget at 28,500, but I am on leave and therefore in a more carefree sort of mood, and this is utterly fantastic and ought to find some love here.

Jaguar's big white whale, unfairly maligned I feel. I gather the XK really had its work cut out hauling the bulk of the thing around, which is unsurprising because it was probably making an honest 200bhp at the most.

I think that would make a rather more splendid family car than the 320d you could buy for £28k though, and the running costs would be more than offset by the absence of depreciation. In fact it would be financial suicide not to buy this.

I'd love it. The wire wheels look wrong on it though, and I don't think they're original. The steel fubcaps on the model pages in the JEC magazine look much better.

dme123's right though - you won't lose money on that car.

Probably

I agree with you there. But the advert makes it clear the proper wheels also come with the car.

You think so?

Under £10k gets a very usable example. That looks overpriced for one of the more unloved Jags.

Au contraire, a big blob, not worth the money IMO.
