That makes my running costs look frugal.
Very lovely, but there are so many big cars which deliver more in exchange for less.
Wonder how many of these are out there for sale with such bills pending?
I was offered one of these; low mileage, titled owner, mint condition and pampered to within an inch of its life with a ream full of similar looking bills... my fear is that despite bills like this being paid already it would just continue to generate bills like this.

Hand written invoice - haven't seen one of those for a while!

The invoice states that they are carrying out items requested by the customer in an email sent 3 years earlier! Has it been sitting around for a while?

We all know that cars that were expensive new can throw up biblical bills - this one for example. Sellers put these in to prove the "no expense spared" provenance but it just terrifies the Bejeezus out of me. Sure the person who doesn't flinch at a £17k service bill isn't the sort of person slumming it in a tired old Conti?

Handwritten has a bolt (2 of) at £38 each ex VAT. Pushing £100 for two bolts!
>Perhaps it skewers a wishbone or something, hopefully.
Ive heard of "F-TAX", apparently there is M-tax as well. Comforting.

I was branded a troll for merely suggesting these can throw up big bills as the majority of work is an engine out job which should be done by specialists. But no, the poster Tyre Smoke was getting all excited by the 'sub £10k Continental GT' but was massively delusional about the actual running costs. It wouldnt need to go to specialist because your average back street type outfit could do any job for a few hundred.. oh, and to emphasise that point he was prepared to drive about with the EML on. Clueless.

Was that the thread where someone suggested an oil drum in the garden with a pump would be all you need to service a Conti on the drive...?

That QP bill does include a subframe replacement so 'tis a mite more than a "service".
It's a not uncommon issue. Corrosion is (going to be) a killer when prices are <£10k.

Have a look on Maserati forums for more.

I love the way this looks. Great wheels. 59k miles and £7.5k. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mercedes-S600L-V12-Bi-t...

hehe

Bloody useful too. I was being tempted by a 4.7 GTS in dark blue with cream interior (wibble). Car was known to need a subframe +.
There are indies (so I read) who sort that and rustproof the rest for a not inconsiderable sum although obviously less than main dealer!

I'm not a fan of the way the W220 looks but that's comfortably the nicest looking one I've seen. I'm not sure many people would want to spunk £7,500 on one though, even a low mileage S600.

well since my posts on here earlier this morning - a slow workday has meant i have been taking a good look around AT at 10k-ish mercs

I do like the E500 coupe - but interior wise, the CL 500/600 seem to have the edge for simillar performance - i like the wood / chrome edged interiors and wood wheels - but , for the money you can also step high mileage into a 5 door S CLASS S600 like this!

I'm quote keen on this - and if i'd have looked a few days ago probably would have gone to see it as i was driving through the area - seems like the previous owner kept a log of everything he did.

Might pop over to the MV forums to see if user / owner was on there.

I love a supercharged Jag, but London Tan is not a taste that I am prepared to acquire.

I called the seller about that car and the history is interesting. Not sure their are any invoices to back it up, but it's a very elaborate effort to make it all up. MB history until 2015/6 I think it was, and then a detailed spreadsheet. It'd had one coil pack done, and ABS pulsation damper, but I could see nothing about the ABC pump and they do seem to wear out at 80k - 100k.

Distronic and thus the parking sensors aren't working.

It featured as a Brave Pill last year and was up for £9k, so given the £2500 margin the dealer has I'd have liked the distronic fixed, but he wasn't interested.

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

In the end I bought a more local car with 20k less miles on the clock for £500 above the asking for that one.

ugh.
For years Jaguar have insisted on absolutely vile twin colour seats. The X351 XJ can be had with just tan seats and they look great, but these two colour ones are awful. It doesn't help that the seat design is so damned ugly too.
