I rather like it. Funky wheels too.
Shame they're not the OE ones as shown in the original advert...

I used to do rally navigation in Chevettes, so I've always had a soft spot for them.
Not £6k soft, though! rofl

The HS was quite a thing, but that's not a thing at all, even in the dark.

1996 E Class Coupe. "Only" the 2.2 but burning the right kinda fuel, and low miles with good history.

£4000

That must be awful; my old 320 could barely drag itself along.
Eh? The 320 is a cracker of an engine.

The 220 is probably closer to 'adequate' but it'll work perfectly for what you want from a classic coupe.
I found mine a severe disappointment, although in hindsight I'm not sure what I expected from it. My most recent prior coupes had been a BMW 635CSi, Jaguar XJ-S, and Peugeot 504 V6, all of which were much more inspiring to drive, albeit in different ways.
I love that old Mercedes. Engine would be, as'enery and Chas used to quip, adequate..

My desire for an E34 3.6 never seems to fade.

my big barge hunt continues - dismissing S8's because of the carbon inserts and usually tatty compared to standard A8's - however this came up

looks very neat and tidy even though its 118K miles - however WOOD TRIM !!!! - i heard ceramic brakes can be super expensive though....

That is a great looking car, and you won't get many opportunities to own a V10. The repair costs on these big Audis scare me though, anecdotally they seem to throw £x,000s of bills and require their engines removed with far greater regularity than any other barge.

Have we had this lovely (but pricey) thing:
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202009214...

2010 W212 E500 estate in a smashing spec with really low mileage, and while the price is high you could go for another 3 years and not see another one for sale. Boring colours, and as ever with this generation of E and C class the interior looks like a slightly upmarket Vauxhall, but it's hard not to like it.

That Merc has already come down £2k from Its first ad. Its nice, but you really have to want that specifically, and it's a lot of money for a 10 year old E class estate, even if the engine is rare. And for prices to hold, you've really got to hope the next buyer also values a really dated taxi interior, and paying £585 tax.

Which, given my judgment with car values, probably means it'll be up at £29,995 in 2 years time.

I've looked at that a lot, I'm on the hunt for an E63 in that shape with the 6.2l. It's a lovely thing. I'm not sure the price is too bad, WBAC reckon that's worth £11,000, they're normally pretty brutal with cars like that. If it was that lovely Emerald Green colour that merc do or even dark blue with a tan interior it'd be on my drive right now.

I like it too, but it's all the money and boring silver. Even at that price, sexy colours would make such a difference.

It's also likely that the E500 has led an easier life than most AMGs - which due to their nature are likely ragged a lot more.

thats a nice find - is that mileage correct?!?!? as stated about E63's are in the price bracket - but along with all the extra E63 tax for repairs / replacements / insurance.

That E class interior seems so dull compared to S, and compared to certain years of BMW 7 series and A8s.....also - i really love new XJ interiors ...... if only a supercharged XJ would drop in somewhere around 12K.....

Lovely options on the E500 and great miles but bloody hell it's expensive. 4 year gaps between services not ideal.
I think those are my favourite shaped modern-ish E class. Last ones with the proper silver star.

Mercedes have made more than a few really poor quality and ugly interiors over the years, even in their proper cars, but those W212s really are very drab indeed. I wonder if the completely OTT interior of the current model was an (over) reaction to it.

ETA - just looked at it again and it has rouched leather on the door cars, in 2010! laughlaughlaugh

Out of thread budget, and I know the 2+2 was rather unloved, but does this seem cheap?

On a similar Jaguar theme, another awful leaper. What possesses these idiots?

I know it's completely redundant to say this, but that looks absolutely utterly fking st. I don't even bother reading the ad details for cars that have been damaged like this when I'm Jaguar shopping, to fix it properly is inordinately expensive (as you'd expect repairing holes drilled in the bonnet to be) and sticking a badge over the holes is an ugly bodge.

I like that, you'd be OK driving it without worrying about putting miles on it.

Trouble is, which pair of gloves would you choose?
