I think rarity and "what is that?" has something to do with it - my Abarth 124 Spider gets a lot of attention, but maybe also because of it's Record Monza Exhaust...

1987 mk2 fiesta, zetec swap. Loads of attention, literally couldn't go to a petrol station or carpark without having someone chat to me about it or comment on it.

1991 205 gti ,2.0 turbo swap. Exactly the same as above but with out fail 'is it a 1.6 or 1.9'

2016 208 gti bps. It might as well be invisible, and its bright orange. It's quite nice not have randoms come up. But then again I do miss meeting people tho. Maybe I like the attention biglaughbiglaughbiglaugh

Renault Twizy, lots and lots of attention, which is good or bad depending on your personality.
I get it from petrol heads, old ladies, kids, teenagers, girls - literally anyone. Nobody cares how fast (or slow) it is.
Just bought one today! It's true, everybody likes it!

Excellent choice of car, and even better choice of colour. This one's mine biggrin

And yes, everybody stops you to talk about it. Owner tip - don't drive it hungover. Soberness aside, the last thing you want when you're falling into a supermarket at 9amm just to get some milk and bacon, is some excited kid asking 1001 questions when you're not sure if you're going to throw up or st yourself. Or both.

To keep it topical, I've recently bought an FN2 Type-R. Debadged and with the smaller wheels.

Nobody looks twice at it. Nobody tries the traffic light grand prix. I actually like the anonymity, as it replaced an Impreza. TBH I wanted the creature comforts more than the performance, and yes I know it's not the best Type-R ever but so what.

As an old guy (75). I have had a lot of cars of all types....from sports cars to full size American vans, hot hatches, sedans, SUVs, Mini Vans, and motorcycles also. I also raced an ALFA GTV in SCCA races in the 1970s. the cars were from various European countries and Japan in addition to all the American companies.
Cars like my full size Ford Van don't get attention but that is great as it avoids police attention. I had a n early VW Rabbit that had an air dam, gorgeous color mint green color and that got a lot of attention from the kids when I lived in California. The two cars that are the most "noticed" were my 1969 ALFA spider that had lots of engine and suspension mods and was a very fun car to drive. It was bought new and I suspect the movie The Graduate and the ALFA spider in that movie made it known to the public. I kept that ALFA for over 40 years and still would if I had more garage space. Currently I have a GMC Denali SUV and another full size Ford van that is white and probably invisible to most people...at least those who are into cars. My other car that gets lots of attention is a 2015 ALFA 4C Launch Edition I bought new. That car is definitely NOT the car to own if you don't want to get noticed. Every drive will take longer to get to the destination if I stop for gas or a snack.....it is a car nut magnet ;-) In some ways that is cool....but I also worry about where I park it lest it get some unwanted vandal attention. Of course since it looks fast there are plenty of people who want to challenge me. I like keeping my license so keep my fast speeds on a track. By the way I love the 4C....it has some mods and with those it is quiite a satisfying sports car and every drive is a blast. I moved from California to Michigan in 2004 and the people here are all car nuts and it gets lot of posiive attention from the people who work at the American car companies in Deroit. ALFAs are quite popular here in Michigan which I wasn't expecting.

My 1981 500 SEL known as The Dictator.

I get pretty much universal approval in this, in fact almost every time I drive him someone waves or gives the thumbs up. I have flags on custom made poles and that adds to the attention it gets. I have even had someone tell me their son (8) asked them if I worked for the Queen (this was a few years ago)

A big part of my enjoyment of driving the car, is seeing other people also enjoying it. I was only out in him earlier and a guy walking his dog gave me a huge smile and a thumbs up :-) with the custom exhaust, the 5.0 V8 sounds pretty fierce and provides a great soundtrack on the overrun.

Cost me £1,300 9 years ago and some of the best money I have ever spent.

Absolutely LOVE it! And it's ULEZ exempt too. I might have to replace my '92 7-series with one.

I’ve had a couple of Aero 8s, the last one (we called it the Batmobile) gathered crowds like no other car in the paddock at The Spa classic.

Great looking thing. And so different from everything else on the road.

My '92 F-150 FlareSide. FoMoCo made hundreds of thousands of 9th gen trucks like this - but few are as in good nick as mine. The attention I get is - Will I sell it? How much do I want for it? Is it 4x4? does it have a Dana Locker?
