What do you drive? How much attention?
Discussion
X3 M40I - Very little, just some surprised head-turning at the sound of the cold start in carparks, no-one ever seems to work out where it's coming from though!
Golf GTD - Pretty invisible apart from the weird obsession of golf r drivers seemingly needing to tailgate it. Absolutely superb commuter car though I must say.
986 Boxster s - A few smiles and glances, particularly with the top down, definitely more 'that's cute' from the general public than anything from car nerds who generally ignore it. Does get let out of junctions and attracts courteous driving which is nice. Plus the kids adore it.
E46 M3 - I'm shocked how much positive attention this gets. Doesn't get driven much but when it does I rarely go without an interaction. Petrol stations attract lots of 'nice car mate', beeps followed by thumbs up in traffic and on the motorway, several requests to buy it, couples pointing and saying 'that's the E46', etc. I know they're popular but I didn't realise just how liked they seem to be these days! Mine is a lovely, shiny, clean example but it's Carbon black so it's not like it's even one of the eye-catching brighter colours.
I think I'm most shocked about the M3 due to it not really having a wonderful reputation amongst pop-gen wen it was new(er). I think it's definitely in that category of cars that have become far much more widely loved with time.

Any chance you can send me your phone number please ??
Well much as i’d like to oblige , I’ve already seen your red one and it looks like it hasn’t seen much action ??Got to admit it doesn’t see much daylight, always tucked away. But will always bring it out when the opportunity arises
For 17 years I owned a 1977 MB 450SEL 6.9. It was great on the highways in the west as most people just went on by. Occasionally I would get the local hot rodder roll up in their Saleen Mustang and want to race. Usually it took only one embarrassment for them to go away scratching their heads as to what just happened to me....
I used to receive nothing but thumbs up and other positive responses in my old Mustang which I had for nearly ten years, but sold last year. Even had people hanging out of cars taking pictures. Filling up at a petrol station was never a quick process!
Always got let out in traffic, unlike my Audi R8 (also now sold) which I used to receive mix responses.
Let's see what this summer brings with the F355 purchased late last year and currently tucked up in the garage

I'm not the biggest Ferrari fan but the 355 is one of the best-looking cars ever made in my opinion. They haven't made a car anywhere near as nice to look at since that car. Great soundtrack too. Awesome car.Always got let out in traffic, unlike my Audi R8 (also sold) which I used to receive mix responses.
