What do you drive? How much attention?
Discussion
I've owned several models of both Rolls-Royce and Aston Martin over the years. I lived all my life in the UK up until 5 years ago, and with the one exception of a DB6 I once had, none ever commanded much attention wherever I went.
I now live in the USA and have a 99 Silver Seraph and a 04 AM V12 Vanquish. The RR gets a reasonable amount of attention when I'm out with it, but the Aston gets masses of 'Thumbs Up' and almost always starts conversations at filling stations. I was even asked a couple of years ago if it was Aston's latest model!

I had a brand new golf r estate a few years ago and no one gave it a second glance unless I was thrashing it
I now run around in a cheap 21 year old Audi tt roadster 225 and strangely get loads of attention.
The original TT shape still looks good now.I now run around in a cheap 21 year old Audi tt roadster 225 and strangely get loads of attention.
I'm not surprised it turns a few heads.
My favourite reactions have been kids at car shows. I parked up in the car park and immediately a family car parked next to me. I was pretty quickly being quizzed by the 8 year old lad that got out. It was his birthday so I ended up sitting him in the drivers seat as far forward as poss so he could rev the engine. He was grinning from ear to ear.
On another occasion a young girl 10 or 11 came up to me. Whilst I chatted to Mum she did a thorough inspection and came back to ask me what circuit map is on the back bumper as it wasn’t Hethel (it’s Silverstone). Turns out she had been to Hethel and was also in a school project building a race kart. Proper little petrolhead. Made me smile and give me hope that we can create a few new Petrolheads before the milk floats take over
The Sierra gets positive attention from those old enough to know what it is, youngsters don't even look up from their phones. That is quite a change over the years. A couple of decades ago it was very different.
I recall one occasion when I drove past a couple walking along, clearly having a disagreement. As I passed, I noticed that the man turn his head, watching the car. She, upon realising that he was more interested in the car than the argument, raised her hand and put an impressive amount of effort into smacking the back of his head.
The Jag only gets a positive reaction, especially from the more mature gentlemen.

The only car that ever generated any meaningful attention was my old Traction Avant, a lot of folk would stop on the pavement to watch it drive past, people came up to talk to me about it, I even once had an elderly couple follow me to a petrol station to ask questions and take photos. People would always give way to it, people would never pull out in front and it was generally given much courtesy on the roads.
All of my other cars though, despite being interesting to me, I suspect generate no interest whatsoever from anyone else, and I suspect it would be a bit egotistical of me to assume that they did.

I have a Yaris GR and a S2K for the summer. Both are seriously planted machines, but the S2K is special especially in the summer!
I find that people hate roadsters. Van drivers in particular have got it in for my MX-5.mat205125 said:
My E92 M3 is very discrete in comparison, as to the uneducated, there's little to differentiate it from a regular oil burner 3 series coupe, but gets a lot of admiration and appreciation if parked up around enthusiasts.
Ditto. Blokes love it and women know you’re the boss. Or at least slightly odd in a good way, and the twin sets of tail-pipes represent each of the directorships you own. Lovely.Edited by fido on Saturday 1st April 15:09

The 355 is perfect. I have a good friend who lets me drive his and it's lovely. In his garage an S1 E-Type, Dino and others.
I own a few cars, the most interesting IMO are the Atom and Griff. The Atom gets a lot of attention and I never, ever get tired of speaking to anyone. The end of days is coming, the more people are enthused the better for me.
Do I assume when you say the Atom you mean an Ariel Atom ? I was always led to believe The Atom was the car that after being driven led David Brown to buy the Aston Martin company. Pedantry matters.
